The hotel does not have it's own parking. You can park at a meter on the street after 5pm or a city-owned parking garage in the back with non-working elevators. Second the hotel staff at the front desk when we checked in did not know the layout of the floors. Third, there was an event which caused them to put the hotel on lockdown and the guests of the hotel were not made aware of this prior to the event. A lot of small children were in our group and were scared because lockdown now means a shooter to them. The hotel staff needs trained in customer service and communication
Peoria Marriott Pere Marquette

I was on a road trip over a long weekend in October 2020 and had the opportunity to spend a Sunday night at this hotel. It was interesting because my reservation was actually for the Courtyard next door, but the Courtyard was closed and all reservations ended up transferring over to this hotel. (Both properties are owned by Marriott.) While I was curious as to what the Courtyard was like, I was quite impressed by the Pere Marquette. My check-in process on Sunday afternoon went fairly smoothly. The staff member checking me in was very friendly and helpful. My room (#821) was clean, comfortable, and very nice overall. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, a lot of the hotel amenities (restaurant, bar, indoor pool, etc.) were not available... so I couldn't experience any of those things. The parking situation was a bit more complicated than it could have been. When I arrived, I parked on one of the side streets nearby... but I guess what I could have done was park in front of the main entrance while I unloaded my car. The parking garage is behind the hotel, and I had to go back to the front desk to have my room key card activated to allow me to enter and exit the parking garage. Not a huge deal but it could have been a bit simpler. The only thing I was disappointed in was the fact that the web browser on the business center computer was Internet Explorer. I attempted to use the computer for some basic web surfing and whatnot. However, for some of the websites I use, Internet Explorer is not compatible... and a different browser like Google Chrome was not available. That was a bit frustrating. One thing that was interesting was how quiet this hotel was. It was almost eerie... a Sunday evening during a pandemic. Probably very few business travelers. I would have loved to have been here during a non-pandemic time and seen this place bustling with people and business... especially in, say, the restaurant/bar. All in all, I liked this hotel and would definitely not mind staying here again (or maybe the Courtyard) in the future whenever I have the opportunity to visit Peoria again.

From the start, the staff was super helpful. We had booked two separate rooms on separate reservations. I had called a couple days before to ask for adjoining rooms, they immediately put a note on the reservations, so that when rooms were being arranged for the day’s check-in’s, they would know to put us in adjoining rooms. Sure enough, it was done!! The person on phone was super polite, helpful too! When we arrived, person at the lobby counter was friendly. The staff member that cleans the rooms was also very nice. I stopped her in hall to ask if she could refill the body wash dispenser - again very polite and did it right away. I have to say too that this was THE CLEANEST room that we’ve stayed at recently. Because of Covid, we just wipe down everything when we get to any hotel room. We’ve stayed at some hotels where the Clorox wipes, multiple ones, were just black/gray from us wiping doorknobs, switches, remotes, counters (basically all the high-touch surfaces). The two rooms were honestly spotless!! Oh, we also randomly asked if roll-away beds might be available since my kids weren’t thrilled about sharing a bed - it was available and free too. We’ve only ever asked for a roll-away at a different hotel one other time, which was denied. It was just a very pleasant experience for the lobby and the housekeeping staff to not sound like we were a bother. Hotel is convenient to restaurants, groceries, shopping, highway.

This was the first time I have stayed at a hotel since the start of the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, I was a frequent traveler for work and leisure so I actually was looking forward to the hotel stay, The hotel is conveniently located near the downtown area, ******, and restaurants. It is right at the waterfront which could be really nice in the warm weather. I was greeted warmly by the hotel receptionist. She was very professional and informative. The lobby area and all public areas were extremely clean. Upon entering my room I was very impressed. Everything was sparkling clean and I did not any anxiety whatsoever about staying there. The housekeeper was in the hall when I arrived and also spoke. I left the room to retrieve more items from my vehicle. The housekeeper came to me asked me if the room met my specifications and if she could be of further service. Impressive indeed. I let her know everything was great and I appreciated her inquiring, Upon checkout, continental breakfast is available at the reception desk to go. There were selections of muffins, granola bars, fresh fruit, yogurt and coffee. You could have one or all. My only complaint has to do with some of the visitors. On two occasions, I saw people without masks, although it is clearly posted on the entrance door and the elevator area that masks are mandatory in the hotel, People were sitting in the lobby on one evening-none with masks-socializing. On the day of checkout, a guy was on the elevator without a mask and upon exiting the elevator promenaded around the lobby without a mask. I think this was very disrespectful of the other hotel guests who were abiding by the rules. I could only imagine that the young hotel staff would have a difficult time monitoring and enforcing the wearing of masks. As a practice, people who break rules are often defiant and the receptionist is not equipped to battle with that. How did I handle it, I made sure I had on my mask and provided protection for myself.
