Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown

Cleanliness needs improvement; there were leftover hairs in the room. The air conditioning was extremely noisy.

The room overall is good. The location and environment are great, very close to attractions like City Hall, the library, and the Franklin Institute. There are fountains and churches nearby, offering nice views. The hygiene is good, and the room provides coffee packets and water.

This was, hands down, the worst hotel stay I've ever had! First off, the facilities are ancient, worse than a domestic guesthouse. The air conditioning is a retrofitted fan that makes a terrible racket! Secondly, the hotel's hygiene is a serious concern – there was noticeable trash on the lobby floor right at the entrance! What's more, most of the staff were Black and their tone was stiff and unfriendly! The area around the hotel also had many homeless people at night, making me feel unsafe!

The room size was decent, and the hotel lobby was quite spacious. They didn't provide toothbrushes. Water delivery to the room was very prompt. I didn't book breakfast, so I can't comment on that. The hotel had an overwhelming perfume smell.

The room was average, but the location was excellent, making it easy to get to the Independence Palace and City Hall!

The room facilities were quite old. The first room I was given was a connecting room, and I could clearly hear the phone calls from next door. I asked the front desk to change rooms. They told me that the room next to the new one was under renovation and wouldn't be disruptive. However, the new room didn't have any tissues, and the bathroom faucet was broken. The experience wasn't good.

The hotel is a 20-minute walk from the train station, and Government House and Independence Palace are also within walking distance. We asked for a king-size bed, and the room was nice. The only issues were the facilities: the air conditioning for heating was an old, noisy model, the toilet didn't have a bidet function, and the bathtub had old-fashioned twist knobs. This isn't quite what you'd expect from a five-star hotel back home.

This time, I was planning a trip to New York, and because I happened to get tickets for an Ed Sheeran concert, I kept my hotel in NY and stayed one night in Philadelphia. I arrived at 10:30 AM and went to the hotel just to drop off my luggage. To my surprise, without even checking with staff, I was told my room was ready. While I was happy, a thought crossed my mind: 'Is this perhaps a room they don't usually use?' The room was on the second floor, and upon entering – or rather, on the way to the room, across the hallway from our room – there seemed to be a conference room or training room where many people were noisily chattering. That alone created an unsettling atmosphere. Once inside the room, I found it spacious, but the decor was old, and the facilities and amenities were also dated. Furthermore, there were quite a few long hairs around the toilet and bath, trash under the bed, and to my shock, when I opened the refrigerator, there was a half-empty plastic bottle of water inside (it was disgusting, so I immediately threw it away). I should have asked to change rooms, but since the concert ended late at night and it was only a one-night stay, I just put up with it. Incidentally, the shower was a fixed-head type only, the bed making was sloppy as if done by an amateur, and the towels were folded haphazardly. As a hotel carrying the Sheraton brand, I believe they should put in a bit more effort, and I questioned the practice of accommodating guests on the second floor. Also, while oldness might be unavoidable, cleanliness should never be neglected. I hope for improvement.
