Palmyra Patong Resort Phuket

The hotel is a bit old, but the standalone villa we stayed in had three rooms, which was a good deal. They also have a pool, and the breakfast was excellent. We wanted to extend our stay for a second night, but unfortunately, it was fully booked.

What I liked: 1. The hotel is not far from the beach, the night market, and shows, all within walking distance if you have enough time. 2. The hotel's hygiene was acceptable. What I didn't like: 1. The hotel facilities are old. The air conditioning makes a lot of noise, so I'd advise light sleepers to reconsider. 2. The soundproofing in the rooms is very poor; you can clearly hear people walking in the hallway. 3. The breakfast selection is limited, about 50% less variety compared to a domestic Atour hotel. The taste of some dishes was just passable. 4. There's only one Chinese-speaking staff member at the front desk, and they are not available all the time. 5. The hotel's ability to handle unexpected incidents is extremely poor, showing no customer-centric perspective. 6. There's a dark path leading to the hotel, which might be frightening for solo female travelers. 7. The hotel rooms don't have door chains/latches, which might make guests who prioritize safety feel uncomfortable. Note: I also encountered some particularly frustrating incidents (these incidents are unrelated to this platform), and the hotel's handling of them left me very dissatisfied. The place is quite small, more like an apartment. I booked it in October for a stay in February. The 'villa' is actually a duplex, with the living room downstairs having no air conditioning, and two bedrooms upstairs with A/C. It's best to bring your own hangers and clothesline when staying here, as their hangers aren't usable, and you'll be fined if you dry wet clothes in the room. Luckily, there's a laundry service right outside the hotel for 60 baht per kilo, wash and dry. When I stayed in Phuket Town previously, the water was normal, but in Patong, it's yellowish, and tastes a bit strange when brushing teeth. I brought a filtered shower head, which wasn't expensive, about 20 baht. Breakfast is more Western-style. It's about a 1.2 km walk to Jungceylon. There's a small Thai restaurant nearby with delicious pineapple rice – you can check it out on Dianping. Google Maps is more accurate abroad. When I booked in October, it was around 1300 baht per night including tax, with breakfast for four, which I guess is acceptable.

Great location, it's very convenient to walk to the beach and bar street. The room is a good size and has a balcony. The facilities are a bit retro but acceptable. The front desk staff were very helpful in calling a taxi for me when my Grab ride didn't show up, which was a big plus.
