Phuket Orchid Resort and Spa

Good location, with lots of shops and the beach just a minute away. Breakfast and beds are good. However, the hotel is run-down, which is a shame. The rooms are much less appealing than in the photos. The room smelled musty, and there were ants. The water slides are worn out. Hygiene around the pool area is also subpar, with dirty tables and parasols. The staff, however, are friendly.

The hotel was absolutely delightful. It's just a 2-minute walk to the beach, and all the amenities you could need are close by, including a Seven Eleven just a minute away on foot. There's plenty of parking available too. What really stood out was the hotel's water park. This time, I stayed in a swim-up room, which made swimming and getting to the water park incredibly convenient. The breakfast spread was also very generous.

We stayed here in July with the whole family (two children) — the hotel exceeded our expectations! The grounds are lush and green, and there's a separate kids' pool with a small slide. The breakfasts were delicious (especially the fruits and local main courses), and the staff were always smiling. Our room was cleaned well. The beach was literally just a 3-minute walk away. Thank you for the warm welcome! We'll definitely be back.

Pros of the hotel: * **Green Grounds**: Relatively large and well-maintained. * **Location**: Extremely close to the beach. Everything you need is nearby – plenty of shops, restaurants for every taste and budget (offering Thai, European, and even Russian cuisine), two 7/11s, pharmacies, and small markets. Basically, all necessities are within reach. * **Family-Friendly**: If you're traveling with family, there are water slides for kids, and all the children seem to have a great time. * **Towels**: No need to bring your own; towels are provided in the room and changed regularly. * **Room Condition**: We had a partially renovated room with new furniture and air conditioning, though the overall renovation felt a bit dated. The reception and staff are very responsive, eager to help and please. The rooms are spacious. The damp smell is characteristic of the country and can be found everywhere. * **Room Amenities**: The room includes umbrellas, flip-flops, and leather slippers, but no bathrobes. When I asked at reception, they said they don't provide them, which I found surprising given it's a basic hotel amenity. I was genuinely confused – how can there be no bathrobe? * **TV Setup**: The TV needed configuring, but that seems to be the case in every hotel we've stayed in. * **No Microwave/Utensils**: There's no microwave or cutlery, which we're used to. This means you can't eat takeout in the room or reheat food; you'd have to take it to the restaurant and ask them. * **Breakfast**: The breakfasts are sparse, catering mainly to Chinese and American guests, with a lot of carbs, few vegetables, and not much healthy food. There's no coffee machine, which was very important to me. You won't go hungry, of course, but there isn't a wide selection, especially if you're health-conscious like us. The breakfast restaurant is right by the road, so you'll be eating amidst the noise of motorbikes and cars, which would be a deal-breaker for many. My husband generally liked everything except the breakfasts, but I'm more demanding. * **Gym/Kids' Club**: The gym is quite poor; some machines weren't working, and the mats were torn. The kids' club was open, but the staff member was very passive and not at all engaged in her job. For some reason, the welcome quest for children upon check-in is given selectively – my son didn't receive one, even though he would have found it interesting.

Highly recommended! The staff were all very friendly, and the pool was great fun. The breakfast was just okay, mostly Western food but with a good variety, definitely enough to fill you up. We had a wonderful 3-day stay 😃, mainly because our child loved it so much.

Booked the family room for 4 people. It wasn't very spacious, so I'd recommend getting a room with direct pool access for convenience. The breakfast spread was generous, and the service attitude was good. Plus, there's a good currency exchange rate nearby.

The room was well-equipped, and the hygiene was decent. We got six bottles of water every day, and the two beds were quite large. The hotel has two pools, one more lively and the other quieter, which the kids really enjoyed.

Went with the kids, I wasn't super excited myself, but the little ones absolutely loved it! There are so many big pools, and the beach is right outside the hotel door. Plus, there are tons of massage places and restaurants nearby.
