Hotels in Karon Beach, Phuket

We love Karon Beach, and the kids absolutely loved the water slides! This hotel has two fantastic slides that kept our kids (10 and 14 years old) entertained for hours. The hotel's location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk to the beach. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, massage parlors, and a promenade nearby – everything you need is right at your fingertips. The hotel is a good, straightforward four-star property. The breakfast was a bit repetitive, but everyone always found enough to eat. As mentioned in previous reviews, the grounds are indeed very densely built up and furnished, but there was still plenty of space, including sun loungers. Upon check-in, the kids were given a map and had to find various locations to collect stamps. Once they returned to reception, they received a small gift. This was a brilliant idea because it immediately familiarized the kids with the hotel's layout, so they knew exactly where everything was. The rooms are a bit cramped. We booked a room with two king-size beds, but we were given one with a child's bunk bed. Our older child (14 years old) is very tall (187 cm), so the bed was too small for him. However, we decided to keep the room ourselves and didn't bother changing because our view was of the pool, while the alternative view was of a fence. Overall, I recommend this hotel; it lives up to its rating and is perfect for families with children. The staff are polite and cheerful.

Baumancasa Beach Resort boasts an excellent location, just across the road from Karon Beach. There are plenty of 7-Eleven stores and restaurants nearby, which is very convenient for shopping and dining. However, the prices during Chinese New Year were significantly inflated compared to their regular rates. If you can book outside of peak season, the value for money would actually be quite good. I stayed for two nights and really enjoyed the rooftop pool and views. It's a shame that I spent most of my time out exploring and missed the sauna and pool opening hours when I got back to the hotel. The breakfast was also pretty good, though the coffee tasted a bit like instant. P.S. Avoid the Amber Restaurant near the hotel entrance. Don't be fooled by its high rating on Dianping; it's not good value for money, and they even swapped out my dish, which raises some serious trust issues.

The location is superb, nestled in the heart of Karon Beach, just a 5-minute walk to the beach. It's a quiet oasis, yet close to Karon Viewpoint, with plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. The rooms are incredibly spacious and exude Thai charm. All accommodations are individual villas or bungalows, generally over 50 sq.m., featuring a living room, a separate walk-in closet, a large bathroom, and an outdoor balcony. The decor showcases traditional Thai pitched roofs and wooden interiors, making for great photo opportunities. The pool is stunning, and it's never crowded. The main pool is large with clear turquoise water, complete with stone pathways through the pool, a small waterfall, and a Jacuzzi. There's also a buy-one-get-one-free happy hour for drinks in the afternoon. The service is friendly, and the hotel is very clean. The staff are enthusiastic and can speak some simple Chinese. Rooms are cleaned daily, and complimentary fruit and drinks are provided upon arrival. Since the hotel prohibits children under 12, it's always quiet and peaceful. The breakfast is good, offering excellent value for money. It's a mix of Chinese, Western, and Thai buffet options, and the quality is consistently good. During peak season, the average price is around ¥400–600 per night, which is quite a bargain for Karon.

I was a bit surprised because I specifically requested not to have a corner room. The front desk staff, with a polite smile, still gave me the most remote, furthest corner room in the entire hotel. (As you can see in the photo, it's on a downward slope, right at the edge of the hotel fence. While swimming, I saw three dogs run by, and two men walk past... speechless). I even booked a villa, and it was the very last villa in the villa area, requiring a long walk down a steep set of stairs. Meanwhile, several other villas, centrally located and without stairs, were empty. Unbelievable. The hotel environment is quite good, and the facilities are relatively new. Breakfast was very mediocre. I stayed for three nights but only had breakfast once; for the other mornings, I ordered room service instead.

This hotel is situated at one far end of Karon beach, and is literally right on the beach! We loved the super quiet location although it's a short walk out to the shops if you want to buy anything. The beach on this side was clean, not quiet but not as crowded as Patong or Kata either. We liked the quiet of it all, away from the bustle, after having spent 3 days in Kata. We booked a Deluxe Room but ended up asking to be upgraded (at a fee) to a ground level pool side room. It was the best decision ever! We stayed at Room 101 and while it was next to the ”road”, it was very quiet. We loved that we could hang out on the beach all day and pop back to the room for the toilet easily, or for more cold water or snacks. We also ordered food and coffee via Grab app and our room made it easy to come out and pick up very quickly, and we can see the grab riders coming with our food too. The staff were nice but they don't speak English well so some patience is needed. There's a cute kitty cat at the hotel, and she(?) loves cuddles and is friendly and doesn't mind being carried. Housekeeping was neat and efficient and we always had fresh towels and a clean room after a day out. The hotel is a bit dated, very reminiscent of old beach hotels we used to go to while growing up. It's well kept and lovely, and we enjoyed our stay very much. It is true that the water smells a little bit but just leave the shower running for a while and the smell goes away. Aircon was cold enough, and if I had to pick on something, I wish the curtains were blackout! Personal preference tho. Thanks to the team for a great stay.

I had an amazing stay at Phuket Emerald Beach Resort — definitely a 5-star experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and very professional. The check-in process was smooth and efficient. The room was clean, spacious, and beautifully designed, creating a relaxing holiday atmosphere. The bed was extremely comfortable, and waking up to the lovely views each morning was a real highlight. The location of the resort is excellent — convenient yet peaceful, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The swimming pool area is stunning and great for both adults and kids to enjoy. The facilities are well-maintained, and everything felt thoughtfully arranged. The food at the restaurant was also very good, with a wide variety of choices. Breakfast, in particular, was delicious and satisfying. Overall, everything from the service to the environment exceeded expectations. It was truly a memorable stay, and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

Room was amazing! Very spacious, clean and fully equipped with a couch, tv, clothes rack, safes, shower amenities, a tiny balcony etc. They gave me a room over looking the pool as well :') Staff was super friendly and helpful when asking for food recommendations around the neighbourhood. Located within a 5-10min walk from Karon beach, there were tons of restaurant choices all around from Thai food to western to russian food. Street next to the hotel also has a whole strip of bars as well.

First, let's talk about the room type and price: We booked the top-floor villa, which was around 1200 per night (including taxes and service charges). Regarding service: It's really hard to praise this hotel. The overall service is terrible. The front desk staff seemed unwilling to assign a room without me looking upset. Initially, they told me to wait until 3 PM, and at 3:10 PM, when I asked again, they still said it wasn't ready. It was only when I looked annoyed that they immediately assigned a room. (The hotel lobby has no air conditioning, and it was scorching while waiting to check-in. [Disappointed emoji] Also, you can store luggage before check-in, but upon check-out, you have to leave it outside). Out of the three hotels we chose in Thailand this time, we emailed all of them in advance to mention it was our honeymoon. This was the only one that didn't prepare any honeymoon decorations (even though they explicitly said they would in our email communication). As for a hotel with a shuttle service, it's only available for check-in and check-out. At other times, you have to walk to and from the hotel, which is quite painful as the main entrance and back entrance are quite a distance apart (Phuket is so hot, walking for three minutes feels like a lifetime). If you're not staying in a central location, getting to the beach or eating at the front entrance is very inconvenient. Regarding hotel facilities: The room was a bit old but still clean. It was very dark in the room at night. The private pool supplied water daily from around 7-8 AM to 5 PM. At other times, there was water, but it wasn't circulating, and the water level would drop significantly after a bit of splashing (on my first night, the staff didn't supply water, and the pool was empty). Since it was a villa, the soundproofing was excellent. We didn't hear any outside noise during our three-day stay, and it was very quiet overall. You definitely need to bring your own shower head for the bathroom; the hotel's water quality was so bad it made my teeth feel gritty when brushing. Regarding the surroundings: The hotel's location is actually quite good. The beach is right out the back door, and the beach street is lively. There's a small 7-Eleven about a five-minute walk from the back entrance (it's always packed, and you have to queue every day). I recommend going to the 7-Eleven and Big C at the front entrance; they're much less crowded, and their selection is better. There are plenty of dining options at both the front and back entrances, so you can switch it up. It's also not far from the Kata Beach Cliff Cafe, so overall, the location is satisfactory. Overall, for a hotel in the 1000-baht range, the service completely fails to match up. The facilities are old, and the shuttle service is insufficient. The advantages are the good location and the beautiful scenery within the hotel, which is great for photos. If it's cheap, it might be worth staying for a night or two to experience it.
