10 Stars are not enough to explain how amazing this place is. This is the 2nd year we went to Pietermaritzburg for work and we were so excited to go back and visit Gys & Denzel again! It was like going home to visit family. The place is amazing. It is comfort, hospitality and tranquility wrapped into one. Great value for money, safe, secure, peaceful, warm reception, great atmosphere and so much more. GO VISIT! You will not want to leave! PS. the beds are the most comfortable EVER!!!! I spent three days in Pietermaritzburg for a collaboration with the university, and I stayed at Denzil’s B&B, 79 On Ridge BNB. It was a delightful experience. The environment was very comfortable, clean, and welcoming. The house is filled with so many objects inspired by the natural world that, surrounded by cats, little birds, and flowers, I truly felt at home. There is a beautiful garden, two very friendly Jack Russells, and at breakfast I had the best omelette I have ever eaten. A place I highly recommend.

An intricately decorated space providing tranquility and everything one needs. During a long-stay for work, it was lovely to come "home" to rest in a comfortable room or sit on the porch looking out at the garden. Gys and Denzil were such caring and kind hosts, and I will defnitely visit 79 on Ridge again when I'm in Pietermaritzburg!

My stay was incredibly enjoyable, and the facilities and hosting were 5-star! I wanted for nothing. Comfortable room with all the amenities (and a bed I could actually fit my 1.9 m frame in) and peaceful surroundings where you wake up to birds chirping in the garden. Denzil and Gys were excellent hosts and went out of their way to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. Being a small establishment, I really appreciated the small touches, from recommending restaurants to adjusting breakfast times to fit my work program. Felt more like staying over with old friends than a B&B.
