Under Canvas Great Smoky Mountains

We LOVE Under Canvas! Such a unique place stay, with the absolute best staff! We have stayed at 2 sites and this has by far been the best family time we get when traveling!!

This is a MUST! The setting is serene. It's a cozy site with a warm & friendly southern hospitality. There's much to do in the surrounding area. I highly recommend!

The tents are interesting and sturdy. They give one the feeling of being on African Safari. In July, the dining/hangout area is just too hot and humid without AC. They had fans running, but they just moved hot air. I noticed split units in the dining/hangout area, but they were not operating. In the tents where we slept, it was a sweat-fest. After the first night, I was ready to leave but we had paid for two nights. In October, this may well be a delightful place to stay without ac. In July, they really need to have split units in the tents. The food was good but pricey. Once you get there, they have you. It is in a remote valley with nothing else nearby. To find another place to eat, you would have to drive for 30 minutes or so into town.

This was a stay unlike any other. We had a suite so our boys could sleep on the fold out couch and my husband and I had the bed. We definitely appreciated having the in-tent bathroom. Very pleasant accommodations. The main tent has a number of games for the kids. Dining on-site was delicious. Generous portions so we split breakfast most mornings. One tip- we brought a large battery powered (like 60 hours) fan and ran that at night to keep cool. The bedside fans would not have been enough to keep cool. Loved being off the grid. My husband and I each brought a book and would read around the campfire at night while our kids enjoyed playing games and making s'mores.

Tents are too close to each other and to the car path. A lot of noise and light pollution.

This was our first "glamping" experience. We love the outdoors, but prefer a shower and bed at night, so we decided to try Under Canvas. We were fortunate enough to have a tent that was tucked into the woods, so we were comfortable at night. I felt bad for the folks who were not shaded as the temperature was well into the 90s. The bed was comfortable and the tent was spacious. The one thing I didn't realize was it was a pull shower, so you have to keep it pulled for the water to flow - more nuisance than anything. Also, the water is heated by propane so if your propane runs out no hot water, which did happen to us. The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. The evening activities were what you would expect - s'mores kits, cornhole, firepits. We only ate breakfast here one day but it was hearty and delicious. I love the water bottle filler and flavored water dispenser. We used those daily. The camp is only about 15-20 minutes outside Smoky Mts. National Park and we loved not staying in the commercialism of the towns.

Perfect for a couple nights stay with the nature, away from the hustle bustle with no internet. Thank you.

I had an incredible experience staying at under canvas in the great smoky mountains. This was my first solo trip as a female, and I felt very comfortable and safe. It was an amazing experience, and it was so beautiful and relaxing. I would highly recommend, and would absolutely stay at another under canvas location!!

Gorgeous setting, close but not too close to town! What an oasis in the area. We felt sheltered but close enough to activities that we could experience all that PF and G have to offer while still maintaining the glamping experience.
