Looking at recent reviews I agree this hotel has sadly gone downhill. Unfriendly receptionist. No smile on arrival. I felt most unwelcome. She asked for my credit card to put on account. I said I wouldn’t be having any room service. She said it was just in case there was any damage. I’ve never had this when I’ve checked in any hotel before! I’d also like to point out that I’ve never caused and damage in any hotel in my life! Tired looking corridors with stained carpet throughout. First room, had an empty bottle of wine and half a glass of wine on side. Not sure if this room had been cleaned before I went in. I went back to reception and spoke to another (far more friendly lady) who put me in another room. This room needed a good look at! The toilet hadn’t been flushed! Broken window handle, filthy bathroom grouting, and the corners of the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. See photos. I had to call reception while in my room but they couldn’t hear me. Phone obviously broken. So had to call them from my phone. Not really a problem but slightly annoying. If I were you, request a room that isn’t on the ground floor as there is no phone reception. Also there was a slight damp smell too. They have put a plug in air freshener in the room but it didn’t really make any difference. I did ask for a golf course view but an upgrade for those rooms is £50. The view from the window is a load of leaves, a path, and mud. There is WiFi but it isn’t the best. This is a shame as I’ve stayed here before a few times without any problems. I probably won’t hurry back.

I have had the most terrible experience this week . I am terminal ill with cancer but was looking forward to seeing friends and having a nice relaxing massage . However, I had got changed and lay on the bed when the woman came in after telling me to ‘get on the bed’ and told me they would not do a massage because I have cancer. I explained my oncologist has assured me it is ok and I said I would sign a disclaimer. The woman checked with her manager and he said no. I was so upset and felt like a piece of rotten meat. I could not leave that hotel fast enough and it cost us money for that experience. SHAME ON YOU

We go swimming here with our baby which they love. However we always end up having to park in either the carpark quite a walking distance away or in a parking space closer in which I struggle to get my baby out of the car whilst trying not to knock the car next to me. The bays designated for Parent & Child are always full with people using whom clearly don't have a baby/child seat and I often see people just getting their golf clubs out & walking off down the road, even when they have seen me struggling & there is plenty of space otherwise. This needs to be more closely monitored as it's quite upsetting to be put in this position when we shouldn't have to be.

I am a member of the health club and I am so disappointed with the revamped changing rooms, every time my locker won’t unlock I always use a different one in the hope it will actually work as it should but sadly no, so a member of staff have to be found to unlock it, so I then shower leaving my locker unlocked as I will have to repeat the whole episode again. There are no individual changing rooms which a lot of women prefer. There are only five showers and some women get dressed in them which takes along time causing a queue waiting to shower whilst you’re wet and cold. The entire floor area is always wet, which you can expect in a pool changing room but there is only a couple of benches in the middle of the room to use to get dressed which have the largest slats you’ve ever seen on a bench and everything falls straight through them onto the wet floor. There’s rarely toilet paper in the toilets. We were all very much looking forward to the new changing rooms while the revamp took place and were inconvenienced having to use other facilities, I rarely go for a swim these days as I use other areas in the spa instead but I’ve recently started swimming again and I am enjoying it but the whole changing room experience spoils it for me and frankly it’s such a shame that they didn’t bother to ask women what they actually want before they spent all that money.

We do a swimming class at St Mellion. Many parents have had issues time and time again with golfers parking in parent and child bays. When confronted they have been aggressive towards women with young children and babies with them, and the attitude that's met is that they being in the money so why can't they park where they like and speak to people however they like. Is it possible for everyone to enjoy this place?

Venue is very tired and dated. The floors are super creaky, like something out of a horror film. Great EV charging network, loads of parking and pretty location although quite remote. Was about a 20 min drive from Plymouth. Breakfast was served in a really small, really hot room. But the food itself was fine and exactly what you expect from a massive hotel like this. The swimming pool changing rooms have clearly recently been refurbished but that can't be said for the rest of the pool area. There are 2 swimming pools, both huge so loads of room even when it's busy and great that it was open early so we could swim before breakfast.

We stayed at the Watson Cottage back in May 2024 for 3 nights whilst on a golfing weekend. The cottage was immaculately clean, decorated beautifully and offered everything and more you would need for a self catering holiday. The putting green just out the front was an added bonus for some afternoon practice. Parking next to the cottage was a huge plus. Golf on both courses was brilliant with both courses in perfect condition. Will be coming back to stay at the cottage again. The cottage in it’s setting was beautiful and I would highly recommend for golfing and or family holidays.
