The best "place" in Scotland When we were traveling between Edinburgh and the Isle of Skye, we searched for the perfect spot to stay en route and found The Inn at Loch Tummel. What we didn't know was that it would turn out to be the perfect place in Scotland. Everything that we experienced at this inn was better than we could have anticipated. The exact perfect balance of charm and character of centuries past, while at the same time being completely contemporary, modern, and unpretentious. The food was exceptional and that is high praise since we had just had lunch the day before at The Kitchin, a Michelin-starred restaurant outside Edinburgh. The bar at the inn presented itself in the same fashion, very cool, charming with unbelievably attentive service. We had drinks at the bar and then walked outside the inn into a parklike setting that overlooks Loch Tummel with tables, umbrellas, and an extraordinarily beautiful small garden where the vegetables for the restaurant are harvested daily. But the single most extraordinary thing about this gem of an inn are the proprietors, Jade and April, along with their young son Selby, who were fun, hip, and wonderfully personable. They were incredibly accommodating as we arrived late due to a flat tire only to find a bottle of wine and a lovely fire in the fireplace waiting for us. On our next trip to Scotland we will make The Inn at Loch Tummel the center of our trip.

Fabulous Inn set in an incredible location The Inn is in the most incredible location on the Loch with uninterrupted views of the hills beyond. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and cannot do enough for his guests. The bedroom was lovely with the amazing views and a wee dram and fudge to welcome us. The food is fabulous (albeit a little expensive) and there is a separate cosy lounge with books and games as you sit by a roaring fire. It is peaceful and an absolute delight.

Came here for the first time after recently moving to the area and hands down one of the best Sunday roasts I have ever had. Everything was spot on food wise and the quality was impeccable. We tried both the beef and chicken which were exceptional. Veg selection was also really good - bowls of roasted potatoes and parsnips, greens and roast carrots and cauliflower cheese. Gravy was really moreish and also got extra in a teapot which was a clever touch. John was excellent and attentive as was the woman who had just joined the team. As someone who can cook a good roast, I take my hat off to this one and will be back soon ! Highly recommend.

Sunday lunch was excellent. We chose the two course menu and had the beef for main course. Beautifully cooked and presented with a great range of vegetables. The roast potatoes were amazing! For dessert we chose apple crumble, and chocolate mousse. Both were fantastic. It is quite expensive but the setting, the service, the table linen and cutlery were of a very high standard. The food was just perfect. I’m sure it won’t be long until we go back again!

Awkward atmosphere. Hotel room was in terrible shape with strange fixes like the toilet handle held together by sticky tack. Restaurant is extremely overpriced, limited and not vegetarian friendly. Staff seemed afraid to make any changes to meals to accommodate us. Nickel and dimed at every turn. Even still water was extraordinarily expensive, especially when we thought it was tap water. Would not recommend this awkward and expensive hotel or restaurant. I can’t help but think any 4 star reviews are their own.

Excellent food. Though on the higher price side the quality of venison and trout was well worth it. Skillfully cooked and delicious. The service was excellent and I really liked the fact that it’s a small business. The views are stunning and I would highly recommend for a peaceful retreat.

£50 for two courses needs to be good and it just wasn’t. Chicken dish undercooked - pink - sent back. We were told another table had made a similar complaint about the dish. And you expect service to be sharper - asking if you need a drink when everyone is empty etc. Manager was harried and rude. It’s v rare we ask for the removal of a service charge… overpriced and best avoided.

Hugely over priced and pretentious food, tiny portions, terrible service and poor management in the restaurant. Nobody taking drinks orders, had to ask every time for plates to be cleared wood burning stove badly smoking .Should focus on quality hearty pub fare at a reasonable price.
