Good location and service !

Expected better from a pestana hotel !! Room 220 is so small Couldn't swing a cat in it (please excuse this expression as I love cats) and the bathroom space was ridiculous, breakfast was luck of the draw !!! This is no way a 4star hotel ,prices at pool bar are way over the top and Pay by card ONLY ,lots of people buy euros for their holiday and prefer it that way ,should be guests choice how they pay ,also very boring hotel no music around pool ,in fact the most entertaining thing was when the bird man (our name) for the nice chap with the hawk on his arm, came to chase the seagulls away lol ,also a wedding one day ,so we had some nice lively music so if you enjoy a dull boring hotel this is the place to go .

We arrived late at night about 11:50 pm we were told by the staff we had been upgraded to a suite we managed to get a get a drink at the bar before it closed and went upstairs to unpack and sleep. The next morning we got up for brekkie and I have to say it was fantastic 10/10 something for everyone. The hotel staff couldn’t do enough for ourselves, for instance I asked for an iron and ironing board and they came to the room within a minute. The staff were friendly and cleaned the room everyday with fresh towels. We went on day trips to Lagos and got the train back. I would defo recommend this hotel l.

The good: Location, views, close to beaches and coves. Restaurants close to the hotel. Friendly hotel staff. The bad: This is definitely NOT a 4 star hotel! The rooms, furniture and dining area are all very dated and shabby. The linen and towels have most definitely seen better days! Although our room was cleaned every day with fresh towels provided, the bed linen was not changed once during our 10 nights stay! The table on the balcony was never cleaned neither was the balcony floor. Food was average both at breakfast and evening meals. NOW THE UGLY: The COCKROACH 🪳 I discovered in the dining room crawling on the hot food surface!!! This came as quite a surprise as it wasn't advertised on the menu which is displayed outside the dining room 😏🤔 We reported this immediately to hotel management and refused to eat there again. We spoke to Barbara (Guest Services) the next day and she was shocked and most apologetic. She informed us that she would contact their Hygiene/Pest Control contractor to ask them to investigate this matter. I must commend Barbara as she was helpful and accommodating with us throughout our stay. I am sure that this was once a lovely hotel and with some TLC has the potential to be so again but we will not be returning in the future.
