Me and my mother had a fantastic time here! Reuben, who did so many activities really made the holiday great! He was so Funny, full of energy and so kind! We aren’t the type to go on tours or stay in the hotel at times, but his energy was so fun that we did multiple times! His tour of the beach was so fun and interesting, and his quiz nights were so fun! Such a great guy, we’re honestly thinking of coming back next year cos of Reuben!

We stayed in for 5 nights.Location is really good when you have car.Rooms are a bit dated but clean. We enjoyed the fact it was not too busy or noisy place. However the receptionists upon our arrival were clearly not in good mood.No smile no welcome...basically they seems to bothered by the fact we came in to check in.To be fair it was 11pm but still... Also we had to paid deposit 100euros and we have been told we will get it refunded after check out.We have checked out 4 days ago and we still didn't receive it back!!! I guess it could have been really nice place if the reception will be little bit more welcoming and rooms renovated a bit. At this point I have to say that our experience was below average.

So had a family holiday in the Algarve staying at this hotel. First impressions were good even though the building is dated. We couldn't check in until 3pm which is normal but at 3pm we were told it would be another hour for us to wait.. We did try and get a freebie out of things, a drink or something but it didn't work 😁. They then found a suitable room so things were good. The rooms have a kitchen in, so basically an apartment type room. The rooms are basic but clean and really comfy beds. They also have balconies you can sit on. So after two nights we had to ask to be moved because of the consistent noise from the rooms above late into the night. The staff moved us with no issues at all which was great because paying a lot of money for a holiday and being kept up most of the night is not what anyone wants. The second room was so much better, UNTIL we got new neighbours who were on the lash until 3am . It only took me banging on their door to shut them up . The other annoying thing about the hotel is they insist on playing crap music by the pool all afternoon.. So if you want to be guaranteed a quite family holiday this might not be the place. The food is rubbish also with buffet style eating at 25 euros a head for dinner is expensive. The staff are fantastic though.. Hope this helps you with your decision.

Large aparthotel, bit dated in appearance, tiles on walls chipped. Lift to apartments was tiny and barely enough time to get in before doors closed. We stayed in a private apartment so can’t comment on room cleaning but the complex itself is clean. Pool area is nice, music plays from. 12pm - can be a bit loud. No shop nearby and its a 20 min walk to the supermarket. We used Uber every evening to get to Alvor and Praia da Rocha. The beaches are fabulous in this part of the Algarve. The local beach is a 10-15 min walk depending on what way you go. Pool bar food is nice, sandwiches, breakfast, crepes but the staff could be a bit happier. Didn’t eat in the restaurant or bar as heard it wasn’t great. Would recommend a car if you stay here. Overall a lovely holiday but definitely wouldn’t stay again due to distance from civilisation. :)

Stayed in these apartments as a group of six. Things we noticed: Guests provided with separate pool towels every two days. Good entertainment for children with play club in afternoon and during evening with short shows such as magic shoes, bingo. Entertainment staff let people know entertainment options every day. Very friendly. 10 mins walk from the beach. A curtesy bus would have helped especially with children. Pool was lovely. Beds generally available but not with shade. These were taken by early risers. Need more beds/ shade. No life guards but pool attendants who might help you get a bed. Small onsite shop selling crisps, water, chocolate, pool toys and tourist souvenirs. Not bread, milk etc No inflatables in pool which is safer. Aerobics/ zumba in pool each morning. Apartments were large and clean. Hand towels/ tea towels/ bins changed every day. Sheets/ bath towels once a week. Positives Family atmosphere Large apartment Close to Alvor/ Praia de Roche Children’s entertainment Nice pool. Negative Not in walking distance to a shop but a large supermarket nearby by taxi. Need taxi to get to restaurants. We had cockroaches in our apartment. Only moved on third complaint and no support from hotel. Pool restaurant was poor/ dull. Overall, I would recommend for families especially with younger children.

This was my 4th time to visit Portugal, I've always enjoyed it , but sadly I was disappointed with this hotel. Transfer to hotel never picked us up after a Two hour delay in Faro airport Passport. 100e fee from Faro for a Taxi to this hotel. At reception you will be charged ,a non refundable Government Tax per person charge on check in and requested to pay 100 deposit . Deposit was not reimbursed as promised by midnight on the day of check out. Still waiting. Dark corridors lead to self catering apartments which are clean large and basic with 2 Balconies one furnished. Kitchen facilities ,a fridge microwave and toaster. No entertainment at the pool. The only interaction by pool staff is if you leave your place. Staff then proceed to take people's towels. Many families end up sitting on the floor. It was very sad to watch. A Manager was called in after many complained during our stay. Manager apologised on check out. Stating there are not enough beds. No floats were allowed for children. Same playlist of music occasionally plays . Pool closed at 5.30. Bar had a magic show for young children and a local folk band played songs in Portuguese. Teenage girls danced one night . Very little atmosphere entertainment wise, Hotel Buffet 25e per head, our food was of a very disappointing quality and cold. Shell Cafe at the pool food much nicer. Cleaning Staff work really hard they keep the place spotless. We hired a car enjoyed Playa da Rocha, visited Alvor, and Portimau. Beautiful beaches and restaurants. I will never return to this hotel and would not recommend it, for above reasons. I did enjoy the aqua Aerobics at 10.30 three mornings . Lovely Sunshine, beaches, food and culture of Portugal it is a lovely country. Thank you .

We were very happy with our stay here. We had a two-bedroom apartment, there were 5 of us, 3 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room. We had a very spacious room with a huge balcony overlooking the pool. It was very clean and liked the extra shampoo etc that was refilled regularly. Towels changed regularly too but the room was not mopped or swept during cleaning. There was equipment to do it ourselves though. Upon arrival we were asked to pay a deposit of 100, we were not informed of this beforehand so be aware, we got it back with no problem though. The pool area is great, with loads of beds and space in early June, the only disappointment was no kids club or pool bar till June 15th which we had not been informed of either. The staff everywhere were so helpful and any problems or questions were dealt with efficiently and with a smile. The location is great, you can walk to a beach which has a few restaurants at it, a 3.50 taxi to Praia de Rocha or Alvor, and a 10 min walk to the Intermarche. We have stayed in many places in the Algarve and I would definitely return here.

We (2 adults and 3 teens) enjoyed our stay here. Staff very friendly and welcoming, pools good, rooms spacious and clean (cleaned twice in the week) and well equipt apart from lack of oven (but we ate out) lovely large balcony with pool/seaview. Alvor about 6 mins by car lively with great shops/restaurants. My complaint with the hotel itself is we found it a little "dead"no music at pool side and no entertainment. I think families with young children could struggle. Also not really within walking distance to anywhere. We rented car from Faro airport so went everywhere by car, or on 2 occassions taxi to praia da rocha strip (6€). Albufeira worth visiting is you like a lively resort and also spalsh and slide very good for the price. All together we had a lovely stay and would return to estrella do vau hotel if the price was right!

Incredibly average. Best thing I can say is that it was clean. The cafe by the pool which is completely separate from the hotel was also good. As for the hotel itself: - No gym as advertised, sign for the fitness centre had been hidden under a laminated sign for the toilet. - No entertainment, at all. - Ordered 2 cocktails in the mostly empty hotel bar. Took 25 minutes, the last 5 was so that the barman could find and cut a lime into the shape of a sun. - Bit of a hole in general, couldn’t walk down the strip without being offered ***** every 20 or so metres.

Just returned from a lovely stay. Was very nervous after reading some of the comments. To correct a few things written below, there is WiFi in rooms, pool is no colder than any other, no issue with inflatables in pool. The apartments are really spacious and spotlessly clean. All the utensils you need. The pools are really nice, all of the staff are very helpful. Pool bar had really nice food and snacks. Yes, there are certain elements of the hotel that are slightly aged. The tiles around the pool are in need of replacing and not ideal for kids. We were there in late September so didn't expect much entertainment anyway but it does seem to be very quiet. It is a short taxi/uber ride into Alvor but Uber is great and it's a short walk to the beach. All in all, having paid a lot more for very similar hotel setups previously, given the value for money , we could not fault Estrella do Vau. Thanks for an enjoyable time.

Our of 5 family had a lovely holiday at turim estrela do vau. The location is beautiful, not near town so quieter, close to a stunning beach, the Atlantic sea is cold, despite the weather being very hot. We did swim and it was very refreshing, abit too cold for one of our sons though. There is a bar, restaurant and snack bar at the hotel. We drank at the bar but didn't eat there, as mainly self catered. Highly recommend the sangria! The room is clean, comfortable, and big, we enjoyed our air conditioning as the weather was hot at 35°+. The appartement was a little tired in places and security wasn't the best, we had a ground floor appartement and locks on the windows didn't all work. However no issues, the balcony was fabulous and we loved eating on it and were able to enjoy the live music from bar. It was perfect for our family, as all quiet by midnight at the latest. No problems with noise in the appartment. I would recommend hiring a car as it is not near shops and town. However it is the perfect base to explore from with a massive free car parking area. We enjoyed going to zoo marine and had a fabulous boat trip to the caves. The hotel also has lovely swimming pools we enjoyed. The reception staff were wonderful, 5 star and our children have great memories being given sweets at reception. Our daughter made friends with Vivian who made her paper aeroplanes and she loved seeing her everytime we went through reception. We would recommend this hotel and we love to come back.

Apartments, large and very clean , reception and cafe staff very friendly kind and helpful generally can’t fault the staff . Pool large loads of room although it really upset the kids that they weren’t allowed any inflatables in the pool . Made no sense to us as there was always so much space it wasn’t the busiest pool maybe because it was freezing the kids could only manage 20 minutes at a time as they would start shivering. Distance to anywhere you need a taxi but it wasn’t too much of a problem as all friendly and very cheap especially Uber . Kids looked forward to kids club before we got there but they were never able to go as it was always empty . Hotel entertainment in the day zero not even any music around the pool . Evening entertainment shocking started too late started 9.30 and only lasted 30 mins and bar prices very expensive. Wouldn’t personally return mainly because entertainment for the kids was poor , no inflatables in pool and a little far from anywhere when people said 10 mins for shop they must of meant for mo farah !!

The hotel itself is very clean, safe and quiet the staff were welcoming and helpful. Room is cleaned and fresh towels every three days but it's to be expected with the size of the rooms. Nice touch with the washing up pack for the dishes, plenty of free shower gel and shampoo. Decor dated but adds to the Portuguese effect! The pool was great for the kids with poolside entertainment some days. Evening entertainment every night in the shell bar. I would 100% recommend to anyone with families. Fantastic value for money!! Need taxis to and from porta mayo but can walk to and from if wanted to.

We arrived at the hotel and met a lovely lady by the name of Audrey who checked us in and made us feel welcome. That process was smooth but didn’t understand why we had to give a €100 deposit but.. the room was spacious and ok for us. We had breakfast on a morning and all I would say is that the glasses or tea cups (also the cups in the room) could be a bit larger, and also there could be veggie sausages etc for those who don’t eat pork, after a few days I was tired of eating same thing every morning so didn’t have breakfast some days. I asked about the gym area and was told it’s been closed since the plandemic, but don’t understand why it’s still not open for use. The pool table could be free or even if charged I would say 50p or €1 as €2 is a bit too much for 1 game. Sometimes we wanted to go to the pool in the evening when we came back from a day out and it was a bit cooler but the pool area closed quiet early in the evening (around 7) and the showers could do with working so people could rinse off before entering or upon leaving the pool (maybe this why you could see all the dirt etc in the pool water). I was recommended to go to their other hotel by a member of staff, Turin presendente which is apparently much better.. The beach wasn’t too far away, there’s no local shop nearby so you have to walk to near the beach or into Portimao town. We took Ubers to have days out and go on excursions. We enjoyed our holiday and these are just a few things I’ve written that could be changed or updated.
