This was our first time staying at this hotel though we are very familiar with the area having been frequent visitors with our family over the past 14 years or so. The hotel was recommended to us so we decided to take a chance and book - we needn't have been worried. From the moment we checked in we found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful.Our room was a nice comfortable size with an amazing sea view and was extremely comfortable. Breakfast is very varied though it was busy no matter what time we decided to attend yet this was not an issue. The area is very much in the quieter part of Praia da Rocha which is great and because we were there in October we had no problems getting seated at various restaurants - though in high season that would be adifferent story. All in all this was a great relaxing trip and this hotel was wonderful -we will definitely return next year!

This hotel is an amazing retreat! Surprisingly you can't hear the noise from the racing track just nearby. The staff is very nice and attentive. The location is great if you want to be in a quiet part of the Algarve (30 minutes from Portimão). The breakfast is great. It has variety and the products are fresh and high quality. The hotel has an amazing outdoor swimming pool, unfortunately the it was too windy and we were not able to enjoy it. The Jacuzzi and the indoor swimming pool are great too! The room is as in the pictures, it is big and the decoration is modern. Overall, we recommend this hotel if you want to enjoy a quiet retreat in the Algarve!

Okay, so having travelled to Portugal and namely Alvor since 2005 never have I been so disappointed in a resort. Rooms are beautiful, but if you stay in block 5 where the Premium Two bedroomed deluxe rooms are then be prepared for the constant run of vehicles to and from the back of the hotel. We have had to ask for our room to be sprayed for ants twice, not loads but enough to have the 14 year old in a tizzy! The food is a hit or a miss, never hot only warm. Lunch is the same stuff over and over which as an adult we can change about, however our 8 year old who has some neurodiversities has rarely eaten enough as his normal food choices here are limited. We had to ask about the “hidden” extras like the dedicated eating area for breakfast, the spa voucher, the free Zoo Marine passes and the little train has never been available when we have gone along to utilise it. The bar service is atrocious!! Premium means nothing as the bar is never manned when needed, you are encouraged to queue jump and believe me I don’t want a thumping !! Now my final comment is in regard to the many male Asian bar tenders who, in my opinion, are sleezing on people when they go to the bar!! I don’t want to have a drink of your choice, I want what I asked for, I don’t need to get chat from you as to how lovely I look or how my husband ( who was in ear shot) looks so much older than me…. Whilst you whip out your phone to share something with me!! NOT HAPPENING!! Back to Pestana for us or to other countries. Tivoli you have not endeared yourself to us on this visit…. Also your outside toilets are a disgrace, dark, dingy and the disabled toilet doesn’t lock.

We chose Alvor for our first visit to Portugal and booked this hotel. The hotel is in a great location by the beach, which is what we wanted. There’s a lift to the beach but we used the stairs, a short walk down. The views from the hotel were fantastic and the communal areas of the hotel are fabulous. Breakfast was good, with a wide selection of choice. The breakfast staff are very attentive - definitely 5* when it comes to breakfast. However, the overall maintenance of the hotel isn’t 5*, the A/C doesn’t work and the rooms clearly need a bit of TLC to warrant the star rating it claims to hold. Overall our stay was great but the facilities didn’t equate to the cost. The staff do an excellent job but are let down by poor investment into the hotel.

Upon arrival we were met with great expectations. Unfortunately these were only short lived. Truly gutted as it put a sour taste in the annual golf holiday, been coming to Portugal for years and this is by far the worst course I've ever played. Will never return. hopefully the conditions will improve drastically for future players, if they don't I really feel for someone who pays to play that monstrosity.

Modern, clean apartment with everything needed for a comfortable stay. We had daily cleaning of the apartment ”exchange of bath towels, cleaning of counters, floors and garbage collection. Some aspects that could improve, It has no magic wand, toaster, sponges and dishwashing liquid.

I would not return to this hotel in the future. Despite its great location across from the beach, it was not worth the cost. Our family had two rooms(one on 1st floor and the other in the 2nd)! With partial ocean view. My biggest issue is with the front desk staff lack of care to resolved an issue with our room. Our room had an annoying muffled ”doorbell buzz” sound going off every 20seconds or so. It was constant and non-stop. Notified front desk and a technician was sent up. He basically said it was the A/C and it could not be fixed. I explained that would make it very difficult to sleep and we never had that issue at hotel hotels with the same individual unit. In his broken English we said nothing could be done. Went downstairs to front desk and explained the situation but was told hotel is sold out. After further discussion they offered a different room with no view. At this point we were already late for dinner and could not move all our stuff. No apology, no discount, no concern. On a positive note ...the noise from outside seem to drown the repetitive buzzing. There is a lot of noise from the late night partying, you'd have to stay in the top to floors to have any chance of escaping the music, yelling and car noise. Rooms are somewhat dated modern decor. Pillows are very hard and mildew in the shower. We will not return to this property. Picture is of mildew and view out of our small balcony
