Good hotel in a great location

Superb couple of days (checked out 1 September). Ok the hotel is a bit dated but that only adds to the charm. Check in speedy and receptionist cheery and helpful. (Superior) Room facing the harbour had all the amenities and little extras you’d expect. Dinner menu has simple but everything we chose was excellent on both nights. Breakfast choice was superb with quality ingredients. Unusually for a “hot” buffet, everything was hot! Big shout out to our young waitress, Millie, who was extremely attentive and did everything with a smile. The rude guest who complained about her needs to take a look in the mirror. She was visibly upset and he should be utterly ashamed. Love Portpatrick and we’ll be back.

Just returned from a very enjoyable overnight stay and would recommend this hotel for its fab location and views, friendly helpful staff, great buffet breakfast and comfortable beds. This is an old building so therefore has some issues but this is only to be expected and somehow adds to its charm. It gave us everything we needed for our stay and would happily return

Shortage of staff, breakfast below average

I drove all or most of Scotland and this was my favourite Tranquil The staff and environment made me feel like I was home when I was far from it Gave me a peaceful place to be at peace

Arrived after 21.00 in readiness for a 05.30 start for the Cairnryan ferry (20 minutes drive away). Very warm welcome by friendly staff who rustled me up a sandwich even tho the kitchen was closed. Fantastic views, pet friendly, great value for money. Rooms and decor are a little tired but clean, tidy and comfortable. Recommended. Portpatrick a lovely small harbour town.

The location of the hotel is stunning and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The ground floor reception areas are very well presented but the room we had was a bit tired. That said, everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The downside of our stay was the catrring. Breakfast was fine but dinner was really nothing special and the menu choices were unimaginative and disappointing. Also, there seemed to be a lack of leadership in the restaurant and the young staff - who were absolutely lovely - could have done with a senior presence to help them. A few tweaks and this could be a really special hotel.

We had a wonderful welcome on arrival and the foyer of the hotel was beautiful with a lovely piano and amazing sea views. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and in particular Jodie provided incredible customer service. Unfortunately, we needed to unexpectedly cancel our booking and Jodie provided a swift refund and couldn't have been more understanding. We were so disappointed not to be able to stay for the night but hope to return at some point.

Two night break. This is begining to end of stay.Staff ell presented,helpfully, friendly cheery.room sea view,great location,room clean ,breakfast fine.My husband acctually joked saying everyone is so nice it's too good to be true I just said they were good at their hospitality job.There was a staff party,fair enough,but some took their after party....shouting and crying and banging to the area right beneath our window ,room 12 so all throughout the wee hours we had constant disruption during sleep on our last night. Also the outer glass door ,which had always been open was jammed shut ,me nor my husband could open it. We had to phone the hotel to open it and got told it was to keep the hoovering noise down.They opened it from the outside no problem saying it was stuck a bit they would get maintenance to look at it.No apologies to say this is a health and safety matter if there was a fire or emergency we would have been in trouble. Could have been 4.5 stars based on first night . They need to get the phrases Not on your own doorstep" explained to them.
