Maybe I have never lived in a foreign hotel, which is a bit rare.
The room does not have disposable items, such as toothbrushes, combs, small toothpaste, slippers, and a small piece of soap and body soap. There are floor towels, bath towels, towels, and hair dryers. The overall area of the room type is OK, but there is a lot of invalid space. There are rocking chairs and two sofas, no balcony, floor-to-ceiling windows are large but the window is a building and there is no view. The room is also equipped with a safe and minibar. Remind friends that the power socket is European standard, so prepare the conversion head in advance or find the hotel. It is recommended to bring your own, domestic brand, bull, convenient and easy to use. The product is as follows. For example, the vacation or stay for a long time, it is recommended to prepare a plug-in board for your own use. The front desk brother is very good, can use English to do simple communication with you, help me solve many problems. Everyone must be mentally prepared, the locals are Portuguese, and some service industry personnel can speak English.

We stayed here twice during our family holidays to Cape Verde Islands with our grown up kids. Our 2 rooms were very comfortable, the beds quite new and we had good sleeps. The last stay we got an upgrade. The staff did a lot to accommodate our wishes. The pool on the top terrace has a beautiful view of the ocean and Praia. Location is close to sights. At night not recommended to walk from there as the area may be a little insecure after dark.

The people in the room upstairs were running around. The people in the next room were noisy. The room itself was great but noise insulation should be better. There were no elevators or ramps to get heavy bags up and down. Breakfast was great. All around the food was great. Local grilled fish for lunch was fantastic. Hotel staff were pretty good though sometimes did not give their full attention. The pool area was a feature. Very handy location.

This was hands down the best hotel my family and I stayed at in Cape Verde. The hotel is brand new and gorgeous. Our room was something out of a magazine. Breathtaking views, modern, clean, and comfortable. The staff was impeccable. So friendly, warm, and truly made our experience amazing from beginning to end. When I say the staff, I mean every single worker was wonderful to my family and I, the manager was accommodating, the receptionists were kind and always greeted us with smiles and even referred to us by our family name when they saw us. The dining staff and waitresses by the pool were attentive and amazing as well. Thank you so much Barceló for treating us so well and providing us with such a pleasant experience. I will only stay here from now on when I visit Praia (did I mention it’s literally at the beach as well?!? Chef’s kiss*). The Centeio family appreciated the hospitality and kindness. Cannot wait until next time!

I had to leave the hotel early as I just could not sleep. There is loud music all night from a club nearby, the beds are extremely hard and old mattresses and as soon as you turn off the smelly ac it gets hotter than outside again instantly. After trying another room all problems persisted. When I checked out three days early on a cancelable ******* booking reception told me they will refund the unused nights via ******* but I would have to pay a late checkout fee of EUR 50 as I used the room longer than usual checkout time. But neither did they refund the unused nights (******* told me the manager refuses to refund) nor did they refund the ripped off late checkout fee, they just ignore me. Extremely bad service unfortunately

We have stayed at this hotel several times after coming to Cape Verde for 17 years, the first time being when it first opened. We have always been totally satisfied with it but felt disappointed this time. We stayed for 2 nights at the start of our holiday before going to another island and 1 night at the end of our holiday. In the first room we couldn't change channels on the tv because it had moved within the wooden frame so the remote couldn't find the signal. The beds weren't very comfy, felt old and tired, there was no plug for the kettle, we had to either unplug the fridge or put the kettle on the floor by the window. When we went for breakfast the staff member was very unfriendly and there was no one to make fresh eggs. We asked if there was any fresh bread & she just said no. The coffee was lukewarm. The pool and pool area were good but we had to wait ages for staff at the bar to get a drink and to get a towel for the loungers. During our last stay before flying home we were relaxing by the pool, again waiting for a drink, and a loud group arrived, singing, dancing & drinking (the staff had arrived by this time) and being very loud. They weren't aggressive but we felt very uncomfortable and decided to leave. Such a shame as we have always enjoyed our previous stays but we both said we wouldn't stay there again in future.

The hotel is very clean and well equipped for the price. Negative points: The hotel is located outside Praia, which requires taking a taxi every time to go to town or visit something. The breakfast is more than a limit, it doesn't deserve a 4-star, there were just 3 pieces of fruit (which did not very much like), small breads, no cooking or butter, soluble coffee. The hotel is a very nice hotel, and it is a very nice hotel. According to the noises we heard, they entered the room next to ours in order to cambriolar, then they descended from a floor and we heard very violent alterations with many people who cried, Then we were not in safety. The next day we asked the reception what happened, the lady tried to disrupt the case. We still decide to leave the hotel for our safety.

Mmichal hPositives: - you are directly in the Plateau of the capital, the location is as much central as possible. Taking this into account, it wasn't noisy at all - we had a room with windows facing the other side, so can't say for the other rooms facing the Plateau itself. - the hotel looks quite small from the street but the rooms are much bigger than expected. You will notice that the hotel is comparatively new, with modern furniture and equipment. - the same goes for cleanliness. You just feel comfortable. Negatives: - staff at the reception could be a bit more helpful. Unlike some other reviewers, I didn't have a feeling they were uninterested, but just not informed and knowledgeable enough; maybe a language barrier was an issue as well. E.g. I needed a post office and had to google it for myself since they had no idea.

Praia Maria est une ancienne école rénovée en hôtel à la décoration soignée. On s’y sent comme à la maison. Des murs blancs, des meubles en bois vernis et des miroirs donnent à l’hôtel un charme fou. Praia Maria offre toutes les commodités (salles de bain privatives, eau chaude, wifi, air conditionné…) et est situé au cœur du Plateau, dans la rue piétonne de 5 de julho, au cœur des commerces et à quelques centaines de mètres du marché de Sucupira d’où partent les aluguers pour Cidade velha, Tarrafal, Assomada… bref, outre le confort, la localisation est parfaite. Le personnel est très attentif et sympathique. J’ai adoré y séjourner et après plusieurs logements testés, son rapport qualité-prix est apparu imbattable pour le Plateau!
