1 Hotel Hanalei Bay

My recent stay at 1 Hotel in Kauai, Hawaii, was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in luxury and beauty. The resort is incredibly swanky, with meticulously maintained grounds that make you feel like you've stepped into a tropical paradise. The private beach is simply the most amazing beach I've ever experienced. The crystal-clear waters and pristine sands provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation and fun. We spent hours basking in the sun and enjoying the serene atmosphere. The food at the resort was absolutely delightful. Every meal was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavor and creativity. The staff at 1 Hotel were incredibly helpful and polite, always going above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Special thanks to the manager, Nicholas Gold, who made our stay exceptionally comfortable. Nicholas was always available to assist us with any requests, making us feel truly valued and cared for. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to add a few more dinner entrees to the 1 Kitchen menu, which also serves as the in-room dining menu. Having a bit more variety would elevate the dining experience even further. Overall, 1 Hotel Kauai is a paradise on earth. The impeccable grounds, stunning private beach, delectable food, and outstanding staff make it a must-visit destination. I cannot wait to return for another unforgettable stay!

I cannot describe in a few words what an amazing place this hotel is. From the minute you walk in the beautiful lobby to the last minute. The experience is just amazing. The Mai Tai class with Johnny was next level. This guy knows his stuff when it comes to bartending. Highly recommend the Mat Tai experience!! 1 Hotel you guys rock!!

I loved the atmosphere, the sustainable focus, the food -- everyone there was very friendly and we enjoyed the stay very much.

Great hotel, incredible staff and world-class view. The reef out front had surprisingly good snorkeling. Easy access to all of the north side activities. Rooms are comfortable 2 kids ＜10 and 2 adults…but we spent the majority of our time outside We’re already working on our next trip.

Awesome hotel, Justice down by the pool bar is a 5 star man. Very attentive, amazing stories of the mountains, super on it, nice nice guy. Great reviews on the menu. Thank you one hotel Beautiful views, beautiful service. Best sunset view also

We had the most amazing experience. The Manger, Vincent, was so kind and helpful throughout our whole trip. He helped us with reservations from A-Z for all our needs! The property was gorgeous, the food was fantastic, and beach was beautiful. We highly recommend this place to others!

This hotel enjoys one of the most stunning locations possible overlooking Bali Hai. It is not in Hanalei or on Hanalei bay, however. It is in the resort area of Princeville, which is next to Hanalei. We liked a lot about the hotel - the food at the main restaurant was excellent. The breakfast buffet was good but a little chintzy for $60 per person. It was not too difficult to get a nice seat at the beach, which is something I appreciate. In the summer, the beach at the hotel is very calm and one can snorkel right there. But it's too shallow to really swim in and there were no waves whatsoever. I'm sure this is different in the winter. However, while I appreciate the eco-friendly ethos, the hotel lacked a sense of place. It did not feel appropriate to its location. The staff and people did not exude aloha the way many great Hawaiian resorts do. I don't want to hear random music playing through speakers at the pool in this gorgeous setting. I didn't come here to be in a bar or nightclub atmosphere. While the hotel had some live music, it was only a few nights in a bar that one had to reserve even as a hotel guest. The value just is not there. So many of the resort activities required extra fees, which seem a bit excessive given what we were paying for our stay. I liked having a bottle filler in our room but the water did not taste good. 1 Hotels do not seem to know how to run a luxury resort. I felt like I was at a millennial hip hotel. The service was quite mixed. Some staff were great, very friendly and professional. Others, not so much. We won't be back anytime soon.

The design aesthetic is very nice and the views are spectacular. The pool is great as well. Food is also great. However, the hotel is severely understaffed and is not in any way on par with other luxury hotel brands (Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Montage, Auberge). The 1 Hotel brand has some work to do at the Kauai property to properly hire and train more staff to deliver the level of service guests expect at this price point.
