Sassi di Matera
The hotel is located in the historic district of Matera and cannot be reached by car rental. Fortunately, the hotel staff informed by email in advance and provided the nearest parking address. When we stopped the car, a phone came to pick us up to the hotel. And draw in great detail on the map the detailed roads to walk around the city. There are not many hotel rooms and each is very distinctive. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony for free, and we can enjoy the city view while basking in the sun, which is very uncomfortable. Hotel breakfast is very rich

Sassi di Matera
We loved this Matera hotel! In fact, it was one of our favorites of our 10 day trip in Puglia. The location is perfect, an easy walk into the center of town and to many great restaurants. Amazing views from our room. The staff was very friendly and helped us with big suitcases. Parking is super easy and not far from the hotel. The room is very elegantly styled, and I especially liked the modern bathroom. The only thing missing is soundproof windows. The breakfast was fabulous, with a great assortment of fresh fruit and homemade cakes. I definitely recommend this hotel for your trip to Matera!
Myricae
4.5/539 Reviews
I recently stayed at the Myricae rental room in Matera and experience was really pleasant. The structure was extremely clean and well-treated, offering a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Outside our room, we found a lavage with our name, a little gesture that made us feel welcome. The location is ideal: it is only 10 minutes walk from the Saxony area, allowing you to explore the historic centre comfortably without being full of tourist confusion. In addition, you can park right outside the building, which was very comfortable. In short, Myricae is a fun and well-managed rental room, perfect for anyone who wants to visit Matera in all tranquility. I strongly recommend it!
Residence Masseria Santa Lucia

This Masseria is located at about 10 min driving distance from the city center. It’s a convenient location, with supermarkets and gas stations nearby and close to the highway too. The place is great, an old building with lots of history behind that was renovated and converted into a hotel/guest house, with a beautiful outdoor pool and garden. Unfortunately, I found the management very inexperienced - except for Enzo at reception, who went above and beyond our expectations from the day we arrived, offering plenty of good suggestions for places to visit, restaurants and shops and always ready to help and make us feel welcome. The rest of the staff is either very young or does not seem prepared for the task they are up to. They also have a restaurant inside, managed by other owners, where we did not have a good experience at all. We had dinner there one evening. The food options were very limited (and did not reflect that was on the menu), the food was average and the service seemed improvised. When we paid the waiter summed up our bill with a manual calculator and couldn’t even remember the prices of the dishes in the menu (he was looking at a hard copy of it) - something I found hilarious and have never seen before! Also, bad price-quality relation - you can get something much better for better price in Matera. Overall, OK rooms and apartments, although not perfectly clean, and OK breakfast too. However, I would not go back to this Masseria as I am sure there are better places in Matera for the same price. A pity considering the beautiful location they have!
Livingstone B&B
4.7/538 Reviews
Despite its very high rating, as well as the numerous positive comments about owner/hostess Miriam, our stay at Livingstone B&B in Matera greatly exceeded my wife's & my expectations during our two night stay in June 2024. There are three individual guest rooms (we saw all three, and each one is massive, especially when compared to hotel rooms in Italy) with ensuite bathrooms. Our room, New York (the other two are London and Paris), was on the top floor of the apartment, so we enjoyed privacy and solitude, plus the added bonus of a private balcony area, complete with a sun lounger. Livingstone is bright, modern, and impeccably clean. Miriam obviously takes great pride in Livingstone, and is certainly passionate about providing the absolute best experience possible for each and every guest. The photos are 100% accurate, and reflect what you see and experience when staying at Livingstone. Livingstone is conveniently located less than a three minute walk (two right turns, then down the hill) to the town square, where you'll enjoy magnificent views down to the Old Town historic area of Matera. If ever my wife & I return to Matera, we will absolutely definitely stay at Livingstone again.
Palazzo Gattini Luxury Hotel

Sassi di Matera
This is a very beautiful small hotel right next to the Duomo. The location is perfect for exploring amazing Matera. The reception staff is exceptional. The room was great with lights along the very tall ceiling. The breakfast room very nice with a large selection of items. We parked our car at their other property outside the old town and they picked us up with the hotel shuttle. It was easy and convenient. The hotel staff made many suggestions for sightseeing and dinner and arranged for a James Bond tour for us. The only downside was that the room was cold and the heating system was not able to warm it up. They told us the the ceiling being so hight the heat get to the ceiling and the room stays cold. The first night I froze all night but the second night I asked for a duvet and a space heater and it solved the problem. We didn't use the spa or the on-siite restaurant because we were too tired but it looked great. We would definitely return to this hotel if back in Matera.
