The Windmill Kimolos

Questo hotel si trova in un posto strategico tra il porto di Kimolos e la Chora, anche se è poco opportuno raggiungere il porto a piedi causa salita importante che con il sole ed il caldo diventa improponibile. La struttura si presenta bene, camere grandi, bagno ampio e spazioso, letto veramente comodo con doppi cuscini, vista mozzafiato. Andiamo ai punti negativi, la struttura , essendo un Mulino si trova in altura e la strada per arrivarci non è delle migliori bisogna stare attenti con la macchina in quanto non è asfaltata ed è anche un po’ strettina, inoltre quando si arriva al porto, non c’è nessuno che ti porta alla struttura quindi o prenoti la macchina o ti paghi un taxi, questo naturalmente tanto per l’arrivo che per la partenza ed il check in è previsto alle 15.30 quindi arrivando prima o stazioni al bar del porto, o ti affitti una macchina e ti fai il giro dell’isola. Infine la colazione, si può fare dalle 8.30 alle 10.30, ti accomodi fuori in terrazza con vista sul porto e ti viene portata una carta menù con le varie scelte che risultano veramente povere, non si possono avere croissant, neanche qualche biscotto, la Ladenya e la Tyrenia tipiche di quest’isola ci sono solo tre giorni la settimana ma diventa un problema a che ora, dal momento che alle 8.30 alcuni prodotti non ci sono ma vengono consegnati dopo le 9.40, per cui ti prendi il caffè ed aspetti che venga consegnato il cibo che non è neanche caldo. Rimanendo qualche giorno abbiamo potuto notare che la mancanza di alcuni dei prodotti riportati nella carta dei menù era quotidiana, come la torta al formaggio mai pervenuta. Infine durante tutto il soggiorno non sono mai state cambiate le asciugamani e neanche le lenzuola.

The Windmill Kimolos is a structure that appears to have been recently renovated. Only a couple of the rooms are inside the perimeter of the old mill. The others are positioned at its feet like appendages. We tried one of these, very functional, clean and equipped with the main comforts. The one at the top, however, did not have a wi-fi signal, the shower heated up 'erratically' and the air conditioning was very noisy. Not to mention the days of strong wind. Furthermore, the staircase to reach it in the last stretch is particularly narrow, so that moving with suitcases is not very practical. Nor is there a continuous customer service guarantee. Being part of the Aria group, which has several accommodation facilities on the island, we would have expected a slightly better organization. In reality, the focus was mainly on efficiency, with a reception for everyone at the port, where there are two ladies who are very available to solve problems. However, there is no minibus for transfers to and from the port and it is therefore necessary to use the only taxi on the island, unless the times for picking up and returning the car to the port are agreed upon very precisely. The staff in the facility is also reduced to the bare minimum. In our case, two ladies who take care of the reception at the mill, breakfast and cleaning the rooms. Asking them to carry the suitcases would have been rude. Among the minuses is a final ramp to reach the facility that small-engine rental cars struggle to travel. Among the pluses, the location allows you to reach the center of the charming Korio and the port in 10 minutes on foot and some small rocky coves and beautiful sea in a little more.
