Galápagos Casa Playa Mann

I truly enjoyed my stay at Casa Playa Mann. To my recollection it is the only hotel in such close proximity to Playa Mann beach, 1 minute walking from the hotel, where you can hang out in very close proximity to sea lions while sipping on a cool drink or grabbing a bite at the snack bar areas by the beach entrance. I stayed in the upstairs corner room with a terrace which was a fine reprieve from hectic New York City living and loved the room enough to forsake some tours just to relax. The highlights of the hotel include a wonderful breakfast made with care, filtered water to refill a reusable container and most importantly the person-to-person experience that you are able to have with the proprietor of the hotel, Jose. Jose is well versed on everything related to San Cristobal and also has an intrepid personal history which makes him an excellent conversationalist. While it’s most definitely interesting to learn about different species of animals in the Galapagos, the human species on the islands are interesting as well and Casa Playa Mann gives guests the opportunity to plug in and connect with the proprietor and other guests in a way that makes one feel more like a traveler than a tourist. I am very lucky to have stayed there and it’s a gift that keeps giving when I reflect on the experience. Thank you Jose and Casa Playa Mann family. All the best to you.

My family of three absolutely loved our stay at Casa Playa Mann. Jose and all of the staff were so helpful with so many extra things, including a flight delay, where to eat in town, activities, etc. I had booked far in advance and Jose answered many of my questions about The Galapagos prior to my stay. The breakfast were delicious and they did a nice job of catering to my gluten allergy. Our garden level room was very comfortable, and we felt confident with the use of filtered water for all of the juices, foods and drinks there. The location was so convenient, just a few minutes to Playa Mann and an easy walk to restaurants and activities. One of my favorite experiences for our entire trip was walking to Playa Mann and observing over 100 sea lions playing on the beach all around me! Jose and staff showed us such wonderful hospitality! It felt like we were guests of their family versus Hotel clients. Gracias a todos!

Excellent family run small hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff and very good breakfasts. Very close to Playa Mann beach for swimming and 20 minute walk to Playa Punta Carola, not much further to Muelle Tijeretas where there is great snorkelling. Jose is an excellent photographer and guide and may be willing to organise photography trips. Staying on the Island for a few days gives a small insight to the history and diversity of the islands.

We are so lucky we chose to stay at José and his family’s lodging. The hospitality is top tier. Thank you all for hosting us 😊

I do not recommend this hostel. We asked for a different room right away because the only one small window it had was pointing into reception and breakfast area “garden view “and they said no. The morning after we arrived loud noises waked us up in the morning, right in front of our window we saw 30 people having some sort of conference, talking loud and applauding. The air conditioner was right above the bed blowing in your face, it was very old and loud as a helicopter and had a bright light. The shower drain was barely working. I had dirty water up to my ankles. You are not allowed to flush any toilet paper and are required to put used toilet paper in the garbage. There was mold in the closet and it smelled. The “safe” a $15 unit from Walmart. Small black bugs appeared all over my clothes. Our room smelled horrible. Can’t open windows because the screen had big holes in it and bugs would destroy us. We asked for no cleaning and Jose argued with me and said it is mandatory and they need to inspect the room every day for bugs! One day we asked to only change our towels, but when we came we noticed the room smelled like toxic bug spray. I got sick and nauseous right away. The conditions were totally unbearable and unsafe. We left 5 days early. The hotel refused to answer our request to refund us for the rest of the days we did not use. ******* was unable to refund us the $600 . The laundry service I used there destroyed my $140 Tommy Bahama shirt. Two thumbs down!

Wow, Wow, and more Wow! Loved this family run hotel. They go above and beyond to take care of their guests. Rooms are spacious and clean with AC and internet. Breakfast was delicious and they even made a box breakfast to go for our last morning. We used the affordable laundry service. Great location for beach, board walk, and restaurants. I accidentally forgot an item and they literally ran to the ferry to hand to me while I was boarding! Highly recommend!

So many great reviews I don’t know what to say that hasn’t already been said. Firstly let me reiterate how wonderful ALL the team are. Friendly, helpful and caring. The Casa had a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. It’s so in keeping with the wonderful experience of the island. Really is just a minute from the beach and 5 mins from town. Loved the breakfast prepared with care and wonderful fresh quality produce. We enjoyed chatting to Jose, Marianna and Lu. Loved being welcomed back each day after our days events. We really do hope to return to these wonderful islands and this special Casa would be a definite place to return to.

Casa Playa Mann is the best family owned boutique hotel I have ever experienced and I have stayed at many around the world. The brother and sister who own and manage it treated me like family throughout my 4 night stay with them. Jose even went to a pharmacy for some medicine when I was feeling unwell. The casa is immaculately clean and the rooms very comfortable.
