Our stay at the Fergus Hotel in Tenerife was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. If you're expecting a 4-star experience, think again. At best, this hotel scrapes a 3-star rating, and even that’s being generous. Here's why: Rooms (3/10): The rooms are subpar, reminiscent of a budget hotel like Premier Inn but worse. The air conditioning doesn’t work – first, we were told it was switched off, then they sent someone to “fix” it, but it was useless. Both the premium and standard rooms are identical, so don’t bother paying extra. Broken floorboards and doors that don’t lock add to the sense of neglect, and they charge €20 just for a kettle. The TV’s WiFi doesn’t work either. If you're on the seventh floor, be prepared for a horrible stench, which staff won’t do anything about despite complaints. Food (1/10): The food is nothing short of atrocious. We stayed for Christmas dinner, and it was appalling. Bland, cold, and limited in choice, it felt like eating at a cheap children’s party – frozen pizza and chips are about as “gourmet” as it gets here. Everyone we spoke to was complaining, and we had to eat out most evenings just to survive. Do NOT waste your money on the all-inclusive option (€25 per person per day). There are much better restaurants nearby that are worth every penny compared to this hotel’s slop. Facilities: The so-called "pool on the second floor" is a complete joke. It’s inaccessible for anyone with mobility issues, requiring you to climb numerous steps. Even when you get there, it’s an utter disappointment, with no privacy as the pool area is right by the road. Accessibility Nightmare: The hotel is situated on a steep hill, making it impossible for anyone with mobility issues to access without a struggle. We had a disabled person in our party, and every day was a painful battle just to reach the front door. It’s a disgrace that such a poorly planned layout exists at a supposed 4-star hotel. Staff & Service: The staff are rude, dismissive, and treat guests as an inconvenience. Complaints were met with indifference or outright hostility. The front desk team is unfriendly, and their lack of professionalism leaves a sour taste. Entertainment (0/10): The nighttime entertainment is beyond laughable. Think tacky 2000s-style karaoke and second-rate magic shows held in a dark, cramped room with no atmosphere. There isn’t even enough space for all the guests, so many are left standing. Hidden Costs & Security Issues: The hotel seems intent on squeezing as much money out of you as possible. Safes are not included unless you’re on a higher floor, so you’ll have to pay extra to secure your belongings. The apartment doors don’t lock properly, adding to the feeling of being unsafe. Overall Verdict: This hotel is a disgrace and falls far short of its advertised 4-star rating. Broken facilities, terrible food, rude staff, poor accessibility, and endless hidden charges make this a place to avoid. Save your money and book elsewher
