Susy was a godsend during our visit in June 2022. We arrived in Quito during a national strike and yet another Covid wave and ended up without lodging. She quickly accommodated our needs, setting us up with a double for my daughter and me and a single for my friend traveling with us. The boutique hotel was clean and very homey. They offered a delicious breakfast spread every morning, including fresh Ecuadorian fruits and fruit juices. Narci is a great chef! She suggested several options for tours in and around Quito. And while roads were shut down for much of the country, her brother, Walter, was able to get us to the spectacular Antisana Ecological Reserve, Bɑlneɑrio - Termas de Papallacta, and The Mindo Cloud Forest. He even took us (by necessity due to closed highways during the strike but very enjoyable nonetheless) on the historic ruta antigua to the Cloud Forest. As the former director of the Galapagos National Park, he was the best tour guide we could have ever asked for! In January 2023, I returned solo to Solsticio for one night and stored my luggage there while away for a quick trip to Imbabura. I have family in Quito and Mira in Ecuador, but I am sure I will always spend a part of each trip back to this stunning country at Solsticio.
