Firstly the good points: check in conducted online and the chap on reception when I arrived was friendly. I enquired about booking breakfast on the second morning of my stay . He advised to turn up early for it as there was a wedding booked in for the Saturday. My room was very spacious, the decor lovely and and bathroom lovely and clean. Now the bad bits. My room was on the ground floor looking out onto a terrace with tables and chairs. There were two large windows but no net curtains or voile at the windows . I returned to the hotel at around 9pm Saturday night and had to shut the curtains as the wedding quests were sat outside my window and could see straight in to the room. I expected there to be some noise from the guests and the music that was playing. But I was so tired, and I had earplugs, I fell asleep at about 11pm. That was until 2am when the shouting outside started and it sounded as if the guests in the room above were trampolining. This went on for over an hour. If I hadn't been on my own I would have gone and complained. I would advise anyone looking to book this hotel, to book direct and check if there is a wedding/function on first. Stipulate that you do not want to be in a room next to/overlooking the party. Just some other observations about the room . The bed had no mattress cover on. I could see the blue and white striped mattress through the thin cotton sheet. There was a bedside table on only one side of the bed, no plug near a mirror for drying my hair, unable to adjust the temperature of the shower which was uncomfortably hot. The shower head was large and fixed to the sealing. Pretty impossible not to get your hair wet. No shower screen and therefore the floor was soaking wet All minor points, but the place advertised it's self as a 'grand' hotel. I wouldn't choose to stay here again.
