Leighwood Lodge

Beautiful place to stay! The room was great, the garden is exquisite and the breakfast was delicious! I wish I could have stayed longer. Such a lovely staff as well- super friendly and welcoming as if you are in your own home. I had an awesome sleep- the bed is super comfy!

Leighwood Lodge felt like the ideal place for our short stay in Johannesburg. Leigh the resident host was welcoming and responsive to messages sent both prior and during our stay, and the other resident staff were always on hand and happy to help. Breakfast was freshly prepared and could be eaten either inside the character living room or outside. We had wanted a final South African meal before we flew home and we hadn't had a chance to sample Bobotie. Leigh kindly prepared this meal for a small fee which included half a bottle of wine she had left over. The meal was very nice and well worth it. Our bedroom was large, we slept well and liked having the option of a bath and separate walk in shower. We did have some issues locking and unlocking the safe, however, staff never made us feel like they were being inconvenienced when they came to help! On the day of check out, Leigh kindly let us keep the room up till we left for the airport, around 7pm, which was really appreciated. Leigh had also given us some useful advice on places to eat and areas to visit whilst in Johannesburg. Overall, a really nice stay after a delayed arrival on our first day after some transport issues from Kruger! Uber is widely used in South Africa, is safe, reliable and cheap should you venture out.

From the moment I arrived,I was greeted by the most friendly staff(Vee),he carried my bags and showed me to my cosy room which was immaculately clean with all the amenities needed. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home.The breakfast was delicious and I will definitely be back

Leighwood Lodge was perfect for our needs - comfortable, well appointed, conveniently situated and Leigh, the proprietor, could not have done more to make us feel comfortable and well-catered for. Our room was attractive and spacious, the rest of the premises very welcoming, the swimming pool most inviting and the breakfast and service first class. We very strongly recommend a stay there

Beautiful large property with spacious and comfortable rooms, stunning gardens and swimming pool (perfect to cool off in after a long flight and day of sightseeing). Leigh and Tug are exceptional hosts and arranged a delicious home cooked dinner for us on our first night, as well as providing lots of local recommendations. The staff were extremely kind and treated us like family, nothing being too much trouble. We felt like we were in a home away from home and didn’t want to leave! The property itself is extremely safe and in a beautiful tree lined neighbourhood, close to parks, cafes and shops. Close proximity to Sandton and other Joburg attractions. Don’t stay anywhere else on your visit to Joburg.

Another wonderful stay at Leighwood Lodge. Always welcoming and kind. Great room, everything that you would need available with wonderful grounds (and a refreshing pool). The neighbourhood is perfectly located with great areas to walk or run. Couldn't recommend it higher.

A true home from home in the northern suburbs. The rooms, with pool access, are all annexed in the grounds of a charming character home in a quiet leafy street, just a short distance from Rosebank. My welcome was warm and genuine. I had a room on the first floor overlooking the beautiful gardens. Spotlessly clean and very spacious, homely, with every facility you could wish for, a fridge, even a microwave oven and lovely complimentary touches. The bed. Super comfortable with plush high quality linen, and pillows. I slept so well. A home cooked breakfast, with wide choice, cooked to order, and in the homely dining room of the main house. I cannot recommend more highly.

Disaster struck for a friend and I in Johannesburg - we both found ourselves without phone battery, in a taxi, and needing somewhere to stay. Leighwood Lodge had been recommended by a friend staying there, so we directed the taxi there and took a chance. The owner, Leigh, welcomed us in, coming through with a beautiful room that happened to be available despite us turning up unannounced . She and her partner couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating - we had lovely chats, and the place itself is a bit of a hidden oasis. There's a nice swimming pool, pretty gardens, a sweet breakfast set up and very comfy beds. Showers are large and have great pressure, there are amenities available, and you'll find plenty of wine and spirits in the fridge should you so want it :) At breakfast, I joked that I could do with a Bloody Mary. Within minutes, Leigh appeared with a tray, and all the ingredients. That's the sort of person she is, and the kind of homely experience you can expect at Leighwood Lodge. Would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks for everything!
