I stayed here a few years ago and it was okay. New owners now and I like it better. Very friendly and welcoming. Clean and comfortable. Whimsical room themes. When I stayed before, the beds were older and less comfortable. The new owners have upgraded the beds and pillows, so it was a good place to stay. Good sleep is good!

We recently spent a wonderful night at the Raton Pass Motor Inn on our way to visit the Capulin Volcano National Monument. We stayed in the Reveille Room and really enjoyed looking at all the old photos and military memorabilia. Michael and Brandy have done a wonderful job of combining modern conveniences (Wi-Fi, smart TV, mini-fridge) with the vintage feel of a true motor court. I was a bit worried about noise, as everyone can park right in front of their room, but we experienced no noise problems even though the motel was almost full. I loved the vintage pink laminate-top dressing table near the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Be sure and make time to check out the lobby, which has an amazing collection of 50’s and 60’s memorabilia. There’s no coffee pot in the room, but it’s a quick walk to the lobby for coffee, which is available starting at 6 am. It was very relaxing to sit on the bench in front of our room with my coffee and watch the morning sky come to life before we started our day. I hope we get the opportunity to return someday.

I've stayed at the Raton Pass Motor Inn three times this year, each time in a different room. This motor inn exceeded my expectations. I like the decor of the Pin Up themed room the best, but each room was clean, comfortable, updated, and equipped with everything I needed. Michael and Brandy are super pleasant hosts. I enjoyed exploring old town Raton, and appreciated the information about local sites and restaurants provided in each room. I expect to visit Raton again, and to stay here when I do.

I have nothing but good things to say about the Raton Pass Motor Inn. It's a wonderfully preserved example of a motel you would see on the highway traveling back in the 1950s and 60s. In fact, it is located on the old road that was once US Highway 85 coming into town from the north. It's a mom-and-pop owned motel and the owners Brandy and Michael have done a great job in running and keeping it up. My wife and I stayed here for a night in August 2024 while on vacation in northern New Mexico. Upon check-in we were greeted promptly by Brandy with a smile. She had our reservations and room ready to go for us. Each room is set to a different theme, and we had the "desert room" full of paintings and pictures from the west. Even the bedspreads had a desert theme to them. Really neat. Nice, clean and comfortable room overall and everything worked well - the air conditioner, shower, bathroom, lights, etc. We had a nice and relaxing stay for the short time we were here. It was nice to finally pull into the comfort of the motel after two or three hours of dodging severe thunderstorms in addition to road construction/closures between Taos, New Mexico and Raton. While we were there, the weather was nice and cool with a few thundershowers in the area. A welcome break from the summer heat back home in Texas. I don't blame Brandy and Michael for packing and moving up here. My wife and I are Dallasites ourselves and this area is so much better than the concrete jungle that is Dallas. One recommendation for travelers is to make a reservation ahead of time if you want to guarantee yourself a room. The motel was fully booked the night we stayed. Overall great stay, great motel and great job. Keep up the good work on this piece of highway history!

Chose the Motor Inn based on google research prior to going.. I love staying at Ma and Pa local owned motels. This motel is exceptionally comfortable & clean. Hotel room was ready, quiet in the evening, great AC, comfy bed, complimentary water bottles. The onsite owners are personable & pleasant.. they put on a simple breakfast.. great coffee & duck eggs! Was such a pleasure I'll be back 😁

THis is a roadside motel. Well I stayed here for part of one night and could not get confortable and ended up switching hotels at like 1:00 or 2:00AM in the morning. I was in the Pin-up room and I thought the decorating was kind of cool. Bathroom shower a bit tight but OK. Mattress was a memory foam and I can not get comfortable on these. Tried for like an hour or so. THE AC is an old fashioned window unit and struggled to cool the room and was loud. Once I got the room cooler, I turned it off and I could hear a lot of dogs barking. Since I had a big drive the next day, I got up and apcked and went to the Best Western in town.

Great little roadside hotel! Neat as a pin, comfortable beds, well-priced, and a lovely staff. We loved the military-themed room that we stayed in. Lots of fun stuff to have a look at. The "All are welcome" sign is a very nice touch, too. Thanks, Raton Pass Motor Inn!

Brandy and Michael are the best hosts you'll encounter; you couldn't ask for more knowledgeable guides to the beautiful volcanic area, hiking trails, and skiing, as well as local eateries and repair shops (we got a flat tire and needed a tire repair shop, also Michael checked on the tow company on progress). Our room was very comfortable, the bed was great, and the original mint green bathroom tile was cool! And the window air conditioner worked perfectly. Easy on/off to I-25. Make your reservation early!

Squeaky clean and updated, Each room is uniquely decorated and has a retro feel but all have the modern updates, great mattresses, wifi, mini fridge etc. I’ve stayed in at least six different rooms here and they’ve all been terrific. Raton Pass Motor Inn is an excellent base for exploring the area (lots to see and do!) or for an overnight, if you are just passing through. The owner/managers are brilliant hosts and a wealth of information about local attractions and dining (Yes, theres great food nearby!)
