Ellia Resort

We've just returned after 8 nights at Ellia hotel. I was becoming quite anxious after reading some of the reviews so wanted to leave an honest one after we'd been. We booked 2 rooms for 2 adults and 3 children aged 14-17. When we arrived we were unfortunately advised our rooms had no electric or water but, a reservation had been made at an alternate hotel. The hotel they booked for us actually had a better rating, still had a water park and they arranged transport there and back. We ended up spending a total of 2 nights there. On return, our rooms had been changed to allow us to stay. The rooms are fairly basic but, were clean and tidy and adequate for what we needed, the showers were fab compared to usual hotels! There are always maintenance staff about working on things around the hotel, the pools were cleaned every evening. The guy in the evening bar was really friendly and was really good with our son. All other staff were always polite and friendly too! The girls who ran the animation entertainment were lovely, always smiling and trying to get people involved, every evening more and more children joined the mini disco. They had Greek dancers in one night and a dj another but, the other evenings the girls seemed to arrange everything and did a great job! Now the food, most of us always found something we liked but if you have a fussy eater this isn't the hotel for them, our daughter pretty much lived off eggs and chips unless we ate out. There is plenty there but, not anywhere near as much variety as other hotels we've stayed at. There was also very limited snack options through the day which is a luxury we've been used to on other foreign holidays. There are however, enough drinks both alcoholic and soft for everyone to enjoy. The bus routes are really good with a stop right outside the hotel, we did several day trips to other parts of the island. Overall we had a lovely time and glad we didn't listen to the bad reviews without trying it ourselves.

We recently stayed in the Ellia hotel for one week in a superior family room. The room was a good size, there was a double bed and a sliding door with two single beds. The only issue we had was that there was only one wardrobe, and it was difficult to store all the clothes, however we managed. The AC in the room was a lifesaver and provided some respite from the heat. The food was good, there were a range of European dishes and a lot of salads and hot veggie dishes. Picky eaters might struggle with the selection. However the adults could eat from the children's buffet which included food such as chips and chicken nuggets. We had our meals on the balcony, which has lovely views of the sea and surrounding hills. The animation team were fantastic, there was Zumba in the pool every day at 11am and pool games in the morning and afternoon, which all age groups could join in with. In the evening there is a mini disco followed by entertainment by the animators. On Saturday night there was a traditional Greek night, which was great fun to watch and there were opportunities to join in with the dancing which was great. All the staff at the hotel are accommodating, friendly and welcoming. It was our daughter's 13th birthday during our stay and I emailed the reception in advance and organized a cake which was delivered at breakfast time and the staff sang her happy birthday, which was lovely. Nicos in the bar was really friendly and engaging. The area is reasonable quiet, there are a few small supermarkets and restaurants within a few minutes walk. The beach is less than ten minutes walk. There are sun loungers available for rent 2 for €10 for a full day. There are a lot of water sports available at the beach. We took a boat trip to Lindos which is a beautiful traditional village. There are a lot of cats around the hotel, as there are everywhere around. We love cats, and it was lovely having them around. We really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely return.

I don’t normally write reviews but felt I had to to disagree with some of the negative ones. My family and I have had a wonderful week at Ellia. The pools are fantastic, the staff were so friendly and helpful from the reception team, the shop, the bar, the cleaners, the restaurant, maintenance team. We didn’t use the kids club or see the entertainment but didn’t feel we missed out, we spent lots of time in the pools and visiting the stunning beaches in Lardos, pefki and lindos. We found the food to be fantastic, always somthing for all of us, always fresh salads, lots of choice and delicious. The resort was spotless. Of course there was an odd ant in the room but good grief I saw less bugs then I do at home! Yes the sink is outside the bathroom, again I don’t see why this matters. Our beds were changed daily and fresh towels when we needed. Thank you Ellia for a wonderful week.

If honestly the worst hotel we have been. I hope it will help someone to decide not to go there. If you are not Polish do not go to this hotel, all entertainment even so bad is in Polish. Do not speak in English. The room was full off ants (we did not keep any food in the room) spoke about it with the receptionist nothing got done about it. Shower constantly get fludeed as it so small all water goes straight into to the room Sink inside the bedroom not even inside the bathroom Shower gel/shampoo nover get filled if it is empty it will be empty all of our stay The double glass door was so dirty that you can even see anything outside. The bedroom/bathroom never got cleaned properly just the floor. No shower no sink. The bedding just left on the bed one time during ten days stay just once, had to change my pillowcases myself, towels got changed just one time When I approached receptionist regarding the airport transfer just to ask what time is it, was so rude saying not problem and couldn't understand what I am asking, call your transfer company we can not help you, it was not a problem what he said but it was the way he said it. All inclusive drinks day time just beer and wine not cocktails (three disgusting cocktails with mixing wine and juice) Evening time drinks - cocktails absolutely awful, can not drink it at all either very sweet or very sour. The coke/sprite not even taste like coke or sprite just giving stomach pain. That is what makes all cocktails taste awful. Juice machine at the restaurant most of the time have just water running The food was very bad all the time, just about found what to eat, soups salty, salads gone off, at breakfast you pick up cold omelette and cold fried eggs, every evening spaghetti, chicken curry, veg way over cooked. So difficult to put to words how bad the food was. The water in the room/sink and shower running salty. Slippers tile pathwaks. My family members slipped a few times Staff at the day bar and evening bar very rude, do not say even simple hello, Only good and friendly person was the guy who helped us to take our luggage to the room. No pool towels, had to buy your own.

the pool is relatively small & overcrowded in the day, the ‘snacks’ are LOW quality and have kids raiding them constantly, additionally the water classes are so loud and it is not a relaxing environment because of this and the fact that the majority of the views are horrible. the only good thing i can say is that the rooms are cool(ac) and clean. there are children working at the bar and rarely any staff in reception. do better! i certainly would not consider it a 4* hotel.

What an exceptional restaurant. The starter ‘tart’ was so incredible that we came back twice and has it three times. What made the experience so wonderful was our hostess, Georgia. Her welcoming and friendly reception was lovely. We instantly felt embraced and every request was catered to (within reason) as I am lactose intolerant but it was no trouble to adapt. Anna was also an incredible waitress who constantly maintains such a happy, welcoming and personalised approach. Together they create a unique and desired dining experience.

Amazing hotel. Great rooms, best shower I have used on holiday. Room was cleaned every day. Food was so good, never had a meal I didn’t like. Restaurant staff were nice and hard working. As were the bar staff, shout out to CeCe who worked the pool bar himself most of the time I was there then moved onto restaurant. Also Dinos who served in the beers and burgers bar, does a great job and went out his way to talk to us. Many thanks for putting the Scotland game on for us. Pool area was great with aqua aerobics and volleyball. As was the water park we had a fun afternoon there. Can’t thank you enough for giving us a fantastic stay, I highly recommend this hotel. We will be back
