Awful experience , dirty room , half drunk bottle of water in the mini fridge in our room. Tissue in the toilet , dirty carpet , toilet was dirty . No toiletries in the room . ( My full review is on Google ) I never write reviews but I want people to know about our terrible experience . Used bed after giving the room to someone else upon them complaining . We found this out at breakfast from the lovely couple sat next to us . After complaining to staff and asking for our money back we have heard nothing back ! Shocking customer service .

We were so looking forward to our stay which was a Christmas gift for relaxation purposes. Our booking wasn’t there on arrival, eventually given our room but our spa visit had been moved without telling us and was on the day of departure. Free drink offered to compensate. Restaurant seemed to have issues with kitchen as our main course took 45mins to arrive and most of the customers were complaining. We emailed the hotel with our disappointment and experience and apart from being told it would be looked in to, we have not heard back nearly 1 week on! For nearly £300. this is not the service you expect and it was far from our expectations of a relaxing stay.

Due to a wedding party and the time of year, they were short-staffed. Steak knives were very blunt, but the food was delicious!! Rooms were largely clean and comfortable but the chandelier could definitely do with a dusting (!) DJ and dance music from the wedding party was loud until around midnight. I would advise you either inform others guests ahead of booking or simply allow all wedding parties exclusive use of the venue in future. Spa was excellent! Lovely atmosphere and very diligent and professional staff. There was just one woman, who showed us to our guest area, who was a bit gregarious and loud and this contradicted the calm atmosphere elsewhere in the spa. Thank you for our anniversary stay. We would recommend and come again, these are just minor issues that we hope will help you improve things for future guests. Happy New Year!🥳

I had a night away with my partner. Location - superb. Quiet and rural. On arrival, Megan was superb, polite and welcoming which is always a bonus on arrival. Spa was brilliant and the rooms were clean and the views from the room were brilliant. Slight issue with the food but Megan who was front of house sorted it out, no issues. Thanks Megan, a very good front of house! Hope they gave you a Xmas bonus. Will be back again for sure. Paul + Martin

Beyond disappointing. We have stayed here a few times now. It is our go to place for Valentine’s Day and I booked to attend the Enchanted Ball with my husband as something special. It looked so magical on their Instagram reel and we booked off the back of that. When we arrived to check in no-one told us that the ball had been moved. We asked where we went when it was time and they said upstairs. We had not been upstairs before so didn’t know this meant it wasn’t as pictured at this stage. Bearing in mind they charge considerably more for their Enchanted Ball than their standard festive party packages or other events on their page, I was very displeased to walk in to chaos. No staff to be found. No idea where to sit and no magical atmosphere but a standard room with barely any Christmas decor. We had booked our whole evening around attending this romantic, enchanted evening. Which meant Stanley House got a hotel booking out of us, as well as us paying to attend the enchanted ball. We found a member of staff after going up and down in the lift a few times to be shown where we were sitting. I then questioned why it looked nothing like what we’d booked and was told they’d had to move it due to heating issues. I said fair enough things happen but why has no-one told us? We deserved the choice to continue with our booking or not. We wouldn’t have travelled, booked babysitters and the hotel to attend another meal in a basic room. I work in hospitality and we had already been to various over the festive season. This was supposed to be our special event for the two of us. We were offered a bottle of champagne as compensation. I explained that unfortunately we don’t drink so that wouldn’t work and she then said our evening would be refunded. This seemed extra generous but I was upset and wanting to leave. At this point food began being brought out and the wait staff were clueless that I had a nut allergy and were offering several plate choices as a starter. I said I need my specific nut free order and they just kept repeating it was fine I could choose anything. My husband stressed the severity of my allergy and eventually they went to the kitchen to see what I could have. Again, this was something we had to send in pre orders for as part of our magical evening we thought we were attending. When the main was brought out they didn’t have our pre orders. The meal we had chosen wasn’t available so we would get a Turkey roast dinner. They brought it out with stuffing. My husband asked if it was definitely nut free as most places tell me I can’t eat stuffing. I was in the bathroom at this point. The server that he had stressed I could die to earlier assured him that the food was definitely nut free. I came out of the bathroom and my husband explained he had checked and my food was safe to eat. I asked even the stuffing? Yes I checked was the reply. Over 5 minutes had passed at this point. Lovely meal and excellent service from the servers. Big shout out to Lina but especially Rodrigo who made you feel special and welcomed, he was happy to help with any meal queries I had. Food was of high quality and very tasty. I have eaten here regularly after visiting the spa on a twilight package, and i myst say this visit to the restaurant was the best by far. Thankyou.

Went to the enchanted christmas party. Very disappointing experience. Dreadful night Firstly bought a bottle of wine from the bar when we arrived but not given glasses, told they were on the tables. There wasn’t any table plan therefore had to ask the events hostess for our allocated table only to find the table had not been set properly, ie no wine glasses only water glasses. The food was served lukewarm and on cold plates, had to send it back. Very poor quality food. Cheap dessert which you had to serve yourself. There wasn’t any turkey roulade as on the menu, informed it was a supply chain issue. Waiters/waitresses scraped left over food on plates at the tables. This is a sign of poor training and accepted practice. A lady on our table had a food allergy and was served the food she was allergic to. She was very anxious about eating any of the food served and left early. This is a major concern. Would certainly not recommend Stanley house.

We attended for a works christmas do on Friday 13th, the venue looked lovely on arrival, however we were disappointed that one of our tables for our party was separate to the other 2 round tables. On the seperate table we were all squashed in a line and practically sat on eachother's knees. It was very cold as the doors at the back were open and we were located quite far towards the back, the tables around us too had their coats on. There were 2 smallish bar areas which were under staffed which meant we had to wait approx. 20-25 minutes to get served for a drink and they did get some of the drinks orders wrong. The food was nice but it was just about warm when it was served. We had a gluten free meal booked and when it was served we was told it was the GF option after checking it was, however halfway through the meal another staff member arrived with the GF option. The honeycomb cheesecake was a bit of a disappointment as it was more like a moose than a cheesecake. We'd pre-ordered a christmas pudding, we were told on the night there wasn't any available, then 10 minutes later they arrived with it. It took 3 hours from starter - dessert being served. There was a member of staff aggressively shouting over the tables at other staff, it was like organised chaos which unfortunately spoilt the atmosphere. There were far too many people in the venue at one time. The entertainment was okay, the singer was lovely but it wasn't the right setting for the type of music. Overall, it wasn't the best of experiences.
