My first room had the worst stains on the chair and sofa. No way should this room been allowed for check in. I booked a queen bed apartment and was moved to a. Double bed room with a view as trade. I was tired and could not be bothered to argue. There was an apology by the checkin staff. The breakfast is average (I came from Salvador where breakfast was amazing). Housekeeping and services were good - all the ladies were nice and pleasant. The bed had one pillow and the sheets had holes. There was no spare blanket in the room and the duvet provided was not the best so it got cold on a few nights and was too hot on others. Shower facilities were good but no skin lotion in the room which was fine as I had my own. No free water in the room only the minibar too - had to go to ibis hotel next door at like 2am to buy stuff there …both hotels are linked Generally the stay was mediocre and the area does not have anything to do. It is ok and central for Uber which was a bonus. Would I stay there again - hardly likely Would I challenge that I am owed money as the room I paid for is not what I was given - may do …if I have the energy Hopefully Novotel would reach out to me before that happens Images below

Great stay! Facilities are a bit less taken care off for a Novotel. In the average I had a very pleasant stay, with a very amiable staff. I do recommend due to the favorable rates and location close to Rio exit to Minas Gerais that makes traveling back easier and with less traffic.

I just left the Novotel hotel by Puerto Atlántico in the city of Rio de Janeiro and despite asking in the most polite way a couple of times for help to check the internet access system from the rooms, it was impossible for me to get help from the hotel staff. Service only worked aceptable on the first floor. The noise that occurred until late at night and during the day in the hallway of the room prevents rest and work with concentration. Understanding that it is a superior hotel compared to the ibis which is in the same building, I consider it important to let you know that we have a project in the city where several engineers and work groups will be traveling and due to the location of the hotel, the distance to the project is a plus, but the possibility of working in a concentrated manner and having a good internet service makes us doubt whether to return to Novotel. I appreciate all the support you can provide and that you know of the regular service we have received over the last three nights staying there.

I choose to stay at Novotels everything I am offered the chance - service is usually at a very decent standard and I almost feel "safe" that I will have an enjoyable experience. This has taken me to Novotels in Moscow, Dubai, New York, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Wellington, Sao Paulo, and now Rio. Maybe for the last time. How the mighty have fallen.... This is an absolute embarrassing hotel. From the reception (shared with Ibis) to the very VERY badly managed restaurants, I have never felt so let down by a hotel chain before. Room was filthy, toiletries were missing, and it must have the most absurd bathroom in any hotels in Rio... The probably hired an intern instead of a qualified architect to build the toilet area, and just forgot to ensure that one needs to open the door and get in... the photos must show how impossible it is for an average built adult to enter without making 'circle du soleil'-like contortionism. I tried the restaurant, waited for 25 minutes for a waiter and just gave up... they were too busy flirting with a table full of good looking girls instead of looking after the othet not so charming guests. The hotel is located on a not so safe area of Rio so wandering at night to find a decent restaurant is a big no, so I had to resort to one of the few delivery options. All in all, a horrendous experience and probably the last time I ever stay at a Novotel.

In this specific area of Rio where there are very few hotels, this is the better option. The rooms are large but offers comfort and a good bed. The shower is a problem…water floods the bathroom floor. Breakfast is nice. WiFi is spotty. Room service quick. Checkout is super busy.

Hotel miss attendants at front desk, at restaurant. Phone call are not answered, reservation emails late replied or even not sent back. Takes long time to be served, to checkin Quality of services is minus medium at all. Just use this because is close my appointment.

Wonderful staff who allowed us to have a later check out for our flight. Super comfortable and lovely rooms. Swimming pool was lovely with the hot sun and the showers were amazing. There was a fire alarm in the middle of the night but the staff were really helpful and sorted it quickly and efficiently.

There were some BIG negatives during my stay but I want to be fair because those negatives won't affect most guests - so firstly the positives. This is a smart hotel. The rooms are large and the rooms overlooking the port afford good views. The rooftop swimming pool (heated) is great and the gym and sauna are fine. Breakfast was also good with a great deal of variety. The location, whilst not the best - not really much around (it's mostly an industrial area), I felt safe and it has good transport links. The tram stop is directly next to the hotel and takes you into Rio city centre in about 15-20 mintues. If you want to go to Copacabana/Ipanema you can either take the tram into the city centre and connect onto a metro - another 15-20 minutes to the beach, or you can take a bus all the way from just round the corner - Any Troncal No 6 bus goes to Copacabana/Ipanema. Coming back, all the buses went to Rodovaria from where you catch the tram two short stops back to the hotel. The negatives - not all the front desk staff spoke sufficient English. I had a very messy check in - partly through a lack of being able to communicate. I wanted to use Accor points but the agent kept saying "no not possible". It turned out she thought I was trying to say my company was paying. A number of other issues meant it took me about half an hour to check in. There was only one staff member at the desk (14.00) and so those in the queue behind me were frustrated as well as myself. It was not all the agents fault but it could have been handled much better. Then when I had finally checked in and was in the lift I heard another staff member and her giggling at the event. Not a great welcome! The other BIG negative was that on the first night there was an open air night club open opposite the hotel. The noise was unbelievable. They played great music but I could hear every single word and the beat kept going until 7.30am. I hardly slept the whole night. I have no idea how this is deemed at all acceptable given there are two hotels with about 600 plus guests who would have been affected. What is absolutely unacceptable is that the hotel took no steps to advise the customers of this event (I assume it was a one off) or apologise for it. A note under the door or ear plugs would have been appropriate). If you are considering staying here over a Sat night, please email the hotel to check there is no night club due to be held when you are staying....

- In-room internet poor. Impossible to use in room. Did all my work in the lobby. - Wet rotting floor. After complaining, the upgraded room had stained bed sheets, pillow and sofa, a gaping hole in bathroom drywall, fruit flies in shower, hair in bed, floor lamp with no bulb - No in-room usb charging - No international TV channels - Far from everything including food. - Broken hot tub (jacuzzi). Wasn't working for duration of my stat. + Front desk staff are professional and try their best + Air conditioning + Good clean gym, murky pool, nice sauna. + Ok breakfast, Coffee, tea, eggs, processed meats and processed cheese, pastries, toast, juice, cereal, yogurt...ect. + Uber is quick, cheap and efficient Attention to detail is a cultural thing, so if you're not from North America the above points may not bother you as much as they did to me. The hotel will probably respond saying Novotel is sorry it did not meet my expectations but in reality nothing will change (and probably get worse with more time as the hotel gets older.) The price is right but they should charge a bit more and fix everything. It would drive more traffic. I'll never stay here again.

It‘s a secret to me, why they get good reviews. I stayed there for two nights. First of all, the location is far off almost everything! I just found one supermarket within walking distance. Upon check-in, which took a while for what reason ever, I didn’t get a welcome drink, which I usually get as a member of their loyalty program. I even gave the check-in agent twice a hint, if my number is on file. In general I have to say, that most of the staff members, except the one at check-out, where bored and slow in what they’re doing! Arrived in the room I realized, that the blanket was not covered by a proper duvet cover, but with two bed linens only, which I don’t like at all, cause everything shifts whilst sleeping. And these linens had some tiny holes already. And they curtain had some unpleasant stains. Another thing I didn’t like was, that when I took a shower, the temperature of the water changed suddenly from regular hot to super hot again and again! After every single flush of the toilet, there was such a loud noise whilst refilling the water tank. I can imagine, that you even could hear this noise on the aisle in front of the room. The worst thing was that the wifi was unstable and slower than slow during my stay. I had to login every couple of minutes again and again. Watching movies, YouTube clips or even Instagram videos was impossible due to both the low speed and the trouble with the permanent login and logout thing. I booked this hotel with breakfast, but I didn’t want to visit this in the mornings. I never ever would return to this Novotel Atlantico in Rio de Janeiro!

O hotel é bom em termos de estrutura, mas o serviço precisa ser aprimorado. Pedi o jantar no quarto, um galeto que estava seco e a comida mal elaborada. Até aí só estava ruim, depois do jantar, ao ir dormir, o lençol estava manchado. Ao ligar na recepção, a recepcionista nem sequer pediu desculpa pelo ocorrido. Em geral, experiência lamentável, apesar da boa estrutura é preciso melhorar muito o serviço
