This special location upriver from the village and bridge gives the pleasure of clean water for swimming in the deliciously reviving Rio Dulce. A nicely located diving platform leads to the floating sun deck thoughtfully furnished with comfortable loungers providing the ideal place to watch river traffic going by. Fiber optic wifi throughout. Free vehicle parking and pickup at parking lot or municipal dock. Use of our kayaks, water refills no extra charge. Library, homemade food, dog to pet. All rooms have views of either the river or the jungle. All rooms except El Ranchito have a private bathroom. Certain units have a seating area where you can relax. Fantastic place to stay to start a trip in the Rio Dulce/Livingston! Top notch staff- they couldn’t be more helpful, just a really lovely environment to be. We ended up staying longer because it was such a beautiful, thoughtful place to be. At the time, Angela was there and she really is such an addition to their team. Great, clean rooms, really special massive porch all along the water. Coffee ready early in the morning which is amazing for early risers like us! Easy access from the entrance of Rio Dulce- they will pick you up at no extra charge from where you leave your car and it’s a 2 minute boat ride over. Lovely pets as well.

Everything at Tortugal was exceptional from the time of booking to prearrival to arrival. From the time you are picked up at the boat dock in Rio Dolce and brought to Tortugal, you are treated like family and welcomed with open arms. It was such a needed experience after our horrible experience at the Tikal Jungle Lodge. Tortugal is a little slice of paradise with breathtaking views, healing energy, laughter surrounding the place, walking paths throughout, and phenomenal food. If you want to do day trips (highly recommend the Livingston trip), everything can be organized for you, as well as your shuttle to your next destination (we went onto Antigua afterward). Angela and Leo are super stars. I'm grateful for the love and wisdom Angela shared- thank you Angela, Leo, and Tortugal for an amazing few days.

Zeer leuke plek om te verblijven. Goed ontbijt, lekker diner. Angela, de gastvrouw weet alles te regelen (maar ze moet oppassen om niet te pushen). Kamers voor 4 zijn vrij klein. Geen airco maar fans. Maar in regenseizoen is rr vrij veel wind en regen 's nachts koelt alles af. Maar wel enorm genoten.

Un posto meraviglioso, immerso nella natura, in un'atmosfera di serenità e relax. Bungalow spazioso e accogliente, ristorante ottimo con vista sul lago, staff sorridente e disponibile, in grado di farti sentire subito a casa. Kleine kamer maar proper en gezellig. Lieve dame bij ontvanging. Leuke rivier met een klein vlotje erbij. Avondeten is superlekker😙👌. Leuke, avontuurlijke paadjes om naar je huisje te gaan of naar de receptie. Maar al bij al een dikke 5👍!!

El hotel es muy rústico muy acorde al ambiente selvático combinado con una Marina para Veleros. Las habitaciones son muy cómodas y muy lindas decoradas. Tienen techos de madera y bambúes. Para llegar al hotel, hay que cruzar en una lancha que el hotel envía una vez estacionado el auto o al llegar a Rio Dulce. Tienen también kayaks para pasear por el lago. El desayuno y la comida, deliciosas!!! Tuve el gusto de conocer a Ashley, la dueña del Hotel con quien tuvimos largas e interesantes conversaciones, así como a la Administradora del Hotel (de la cual no puedo recordar su nombre), una linda persona también! Espero poder regresar pronto!!!

I have stayed at Tortugal several times years back. I brought friends there this visit who were new to the area. In Two days and three nights we had a great time at this wonderfully located place with so much to make a visit great. We swam off the dock, kayaked up a nearby canal, heated and cooled at Finca Paraiso water fall/hot springs, walked through Fronteras. We got picked up and returned by Casa Perico - for lunch and a look about. All this was orchestrated by Angela, the current manager, who i hope would be there forever. She "gets" Tortugal. I felt Daphne, the creator's, artistic presence in the structures, walkways, open air lounging spots we enjoyed. The food was fresh and good. Only difficulty was, to me, the oversized portions at dinner. I love Tortugal and Rio Dulce.

I had a great time at Tortugal! I was picked up from the dock at the same time as the groceries! My room was cosy and charming. The bed was comfy, the water was hot and I had a ‘side sea view’ of the river. The best things about the hotel were: the inimitable Angela - an infinite source of knowledge and dry humour; the amazing food; the salty sea dogs (who congregated at the bar at dusk to regale people with yachting stories over the Cuba libres) and two actual dogs (who seemed to have as much fun as the guests!) A great choice for a stay in Rio Dulce!

een rustige plek om te chillen in een op houten palen opgetrokken"boutique hotel. Goede keuken met verse producten; fijne mensen, zeker de gastvrouw besteedt veel aandacht aan de reizigers. Aanrader voor short stay in de RioDulce monding, als uitvalsbasis naar meerdere toeristische plekjes. Goed ontbijt, goede kamers, goed sanitair, alles in orde, Niet de plek om veel mensen te leren kennen of om`s avonds uit de bol te gaan.
