Southern Surf Beach Apartments

This is the third time we have stayed at Southern Surf Beach Apartments (twice as a couple and once as a family of 5) each occasion has been brilliant. The pool area is never over crowded and the outdoor BBQ area just keeps getting better. Andrew truly is a fantastic host, his attention to detail is unique and he always seeks to find out about your stay. In fact the whole team at Southern Surf are friendly and accommodating. The hotels position means the majority of rooms have a sea view and the balconies are private as they are angled meaning neighbours can’t see over. What was also great to see was that anything we mentioned on our previous stays he had done eg. One room we stayed in previously didn’t have plugs next to the beds which we like for charging phones/ watches over night, he has since added these in and placed a bottle opener on the outdoor fridge (a must when opening those ice cold beers). The little things make this place even more special each time. Having visited Barbados many these apartments are perfectly located on the south coast, right opposite Rockley Beach. Here you will find a fabulous beach bar, a few stalls selling an array of items, quayside which is a small shopping area with a few restaurants, a small supermarket and gift shops… Chefette (the Bajan Macdonalds) is within walking distance as is Starbucks. So to some up… you will really struggle to beat this place for your money. With each visit we see little improvements - it really is a home from home. We cannot wait to return. I have stayed at southern surf more than a few times now and realized i never wrote a review on this wonderful place, so here it goes.... lets start with the host, Andrew is lovely, always asks if i need anything and maybe anything he could improve on. I always give my input on little things, seeing as its alot of guests home away from home and we want to be as confortable there as possible. Location : wonderful spot. located on the main road easy access to public transportation. Across the street from the lovely Accra Beach with wonderful views from your balcony. Very short walk to quayside mall where you can find ATM machine, chinese food, pizza, breakfast place, souvenier shops and a small grocery store for basic needs. There is a larger grocery store towards worthing and again the walk isnt far. Bars and restaurants all located along the main road to choose from. Tiki bar just across the street, great place to either spend the day at the beach or just have a few drinks and some food. Rooms: The rooms are clean. Always clean sheets and clean towels in the rooms every few days. Check with front desk when your cleaning day is :) The ladies that come in and clean do a great job:) The bathroom is lovely, probably my favorite part of the room. That shower is amazing, the water pressure is great and always have hot water. Everything else in the room is what you need for your stay. Comfortable bed , a kitchen that comes fully equipped with everything you need to make breakfast, lunch or dinner. Alot of storage with hangers and safe for your passport and money :) All rooms are secure with bars so its a perfect place for solo travellers who may be worried. The Grounds: Wonderful pool, always clean. The garden is wonderful and is always being taken care of. There is a bathrooom by the pool as well and its extreamly clean at all times. There is enough shade for everyone and tons of sun if thats what you like. There is also a fridge and BBQ to keep your drinks cold and throw something on the grill to eat :) Front Desk: If you are arriving during the day someone will be there to greet you either Andrew or Trudy. If arriving after hours the check in process is soo simple as there are lock boxes that are very easy to use. You can also change your beach or pool towel at the front desk daily if you need to as well :) Overall, all my visits have been nothing but amazing. I will continue to stay at Southern Surf because of the hospitality and the location and the wonderful room and pool:)

Starting with the positives. Andrew is a great host and always asked if we needed anything. Loved the private pool and outdoor dining area...we had our breakfasts there. Loved the wildlife that congregated around the pool. The apartment (not refurbed) was specious with plenty of storage space and well working a/c. The not so good: Incredibly noisy room. Right by the main road, my earplugs had no chance. The issue is the balcony door isn't soundproofed and at times it felt like we were sleeping outside. This completely ruined our stay. If you are a light sleeper, do not stay here. The traffic never stops. It was quieter from around 2am-4.30am ...that is it! Sadly for us, we won't consider this place again.

My daughter and I had a wonderful 9 night stay over New Year/beginning of January. We were so happy with our choice, Southern Surf was the perfect place to stay. The building is in a great location, not too busy and not too quiet. Our apartment was spacious, super clean and very well equipped with all we needed. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. Andrew and Trudy were so friendly and helpful, they made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. Having the swimming pool on site was an extra bonus if you didn’t fancy the beach which was literally over the road. No fighting over sunbeds and it felt like we had our own private pool at times! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Southern Surf to any one wanting to do their own thing in Barbados. I did not miss being in an all-inclusive hotel one bit. We will be back :)

The Southern Surf Beach Apartments were a great place to stay on our trip to Barbados. Located right across the road from Rockley Beach and in close proximity to a variety of restaurants and convenience stores. The apartment was extremely clean and well equipped. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and having a unit on the ground floor, the access to the beach and the pool was very easy. However, the single best part of our stay was the kindness and hospitality of the management. Andrew and Trudy couldn’t have been any more accommodating or welcoming. They were there to make sure our stay was everything we hoped for. We will be back.

Another fantastic stay at Southern Sur,twice in the same year,that should be enough proof that if you want a self catering style holiday,with all the amenities you could wish for this is the place for you.Andrew the proprietor and Trudi make you feel most welcome and nothing is too much trouble.The 4 bedroom villa on the complex has had a major refurb in the kitchen area and with AC throughout the villa if you are a larger group I would definitely recommend a stay here. Go try Southern Surf and book directly with Andrew for the very best rates,the rate you pay is inclusive of ALL taxes so no hidden surprises on check in unlike some other establishments. We are already booked to come back in 2025
