Sonder San Lorenzo

The property was in an area with many restaurants /bakeries and a grocery store nearby so made it convenient for us. The apartment was nicely stocked but I didn't know how to use the stove so really didn't cook anything but there was a microwave and a full size fridge. I had to youtube how to use the washer/dryer...which is quite loud and takes a long time to do one load. The place is not near a train station so we had a taxi pick us up daily if we were in a rush or didn't want to waste the day with walking 25 mins to the train station. This is a great place for a family with teens (because of the stairs). There is one bedroom downstairs and two upstairs plus two full bathrooms. Communication with Sonder's rep was wonderful on Whatapp, they were available 24/7 to assist with questions. They even booked my airport transportation because I was worried about the taxi reliability. We would definitely stay in another Sonder location in the future.

Doubtful value for money. Not meeting it's 4-star level. Needed an escalation to get rooms cleaned, freed from mild, ants still all around in the bathroom...basic concept is good, lack of professional and thoughtful realisation.

This place is really a good place however it is very falsely advertised. The place is not “within easy reach to the Colosseum” as stated. In order for one to get to the tourist things in Rome such as Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, etc. an Uber or Taxi is a must! And it adds up at lease 28 € each way (or more depending on time of day). This is not our first time in Rome and I found it very deceiving that the place stated within 5 minutes by car (it was at least 25 minutes or so) which again falsely advertised. There is a bus station near by and not once did we see the bus pass by. The area, seems questionable but because I was with my husband I felt safe. Had this been our first time in Rome I would have been more upset, and believe me I was. Overall not a bad place to stay at, but not near anywhere touristy and if you dont mind spending the extra cash on taxis and ubers then this is a great place. Also, some Taxis do not like coming this way (not sure why) and so expect to wait a while for one to accept through app. Be warned of the washer/dryer as it does not fully dry clothes. So expect to hang dry your clothes. Not a convenient location.

The apartment was extremely spacious and I loved staying in San Lorenzo and having the conveniences of a nearby grocery store, the young environment, and cheaper food after long touristy days in Rome. We had some technical difficulties with the apartment but the staff was always quick to help out. Overall I’d recommend it!

The unit I was in was up against the metal stairwell. It sounding like a train barreling through when people walked up and down it. Shook the entire room which caused lack of sleep for the time I was there. I also had ants in the kitchen and bathroom.

Among many with this place, the main problem is that the exterior of the property is covered in graffiti, on a block that has garbage strewn everywhere. The property said this is outside their control -- fair enough, much of Rome away from touristy areas looks the same -- but the issue is that the photo of the property exterior on the booking service doesn’t show an accurate depiction. The area is – to be blunt – ugly and the management has done nothing to restore defaced exterior (though neighbouring property, another short-term rental business, had a pristine exterior). Overall we felt deceived by the listing and that it was poor value for the price. Other issues include that the checkin time is very late (4pm) and there is an exorbitant charge for earlier checkin, even just for 90 mins early. The company's app and website signin was non-functional at the time of our stay, though communicating by email prompted an auto-reply directing you to the app or website. The app is required for everything, even just to get the info about the apartment, and I resented being forced to install an app to access info that should have been in the apartment. Kitchen is missing many basics like something to wash dishes with, or a cloth for wiping counters or a couple of tabs of dishwasher detergent, wine glasses, dish rack… There is a single outlet in the kitchen, so you have to unplug the microwave to plug in the kettle, etc. The sofa, which looked a bit beat up, was rock hard to sleep on. Found dust on surfaces throughout unit.

Our apartment was located in an excellent part of the city, not really far from the most georgeous views. We usually walked everywhere and the sights even on the way are breathtaking. The apartment was clean and overall very cozy, we had everything we needed there. Also, the Sonder team was aleays ready and quick to help with everything we needed. Everybody loved staying there. The only downside were louder neighbours who lived above us (them taking the stairs up to their apartment would wake everybody up, but it wasn’t anything tragic).
