The hotel is extremely clean. Morning staff is superb which includes the breakfast staff. Tasha (breakfast area), she is there to greet you with a smile as you prepare your breakfast. She even went out of her way one morning to help me pack up some breakfast for my 5 hour trip back home to KY. She is very helpful and knowledgeable of the area and helped me choose a place for dinner. Thanks to Tasha, for starting my day off with friendliness!

It was awesome to stay there, location was great and breakfast, service and all of that was great. Would recommend. So fun to hangout with friends and family, lots of space to hangout and have fun overall it was an awesome place to stay and would stay there again for sure

I travel a lot for work all around the Midwest and always stay at holiday inn expresses because they are consistent and usually great. This one was not. The gym was filthy with no towels or cleaning products. There was no water pressure and the shower head barely functioned. The last day I didn’t even have hot water for my shower. The staff was nice enough, I’ve just come to expect more that’s why I stick with this chain.

A Good stay. Friendly, knowledgeable employees. No major issues whatsoever, certainly would stay here again. its about a eight to ten minute car ride to Notre Dame Stadium. Restaurants and convenience stores are walk able. Minor negatives include * smaller sized free breakfast in lobby ( smaller than most other IHG properties) * Above only goes until 930 am (starts @ 630am) * used the exercise room- Messy with used towels and used beverage containers.

This hotel is probably one of the most clean places I’ve stayed in a hotel. The amenities weren’t much. No iron. Phone didn’t work. No closets. I’m thinking that it needs a free modern updates. The host were wonderful. Until next time South Bend!

The Holiday Inn Express was super easy to find. It worked well for a one night stay. The location is good. The breakfast was okay. Overall, if it is a stop that you are making to get to the western part of the US, it is fine.

Every staff member here has been amazing! They are all super nice and helpful. They have gone out of their way to make sure our travel hockey team has been taken care of. Rooms are clean, quiet, and comfortable.

Worst stay I’ve had in a while. Ownership needs to take responsibility here they are doing wrong by their staff. One of the reasons we booked was for the pool which has clearly been closed for some time. Update your amenities on your site! Upon check-in the key card maker was broken and the manager (she was great but clearly overwhelmed) had to let each guest up to their room. The room was deplorable. It absolutely wreaked of stale cigarettes. Due to our party needs we had no choice but to stay in the room. My sinuses still haven’t recovered. The icing on the cake was finding a bar of used soap in the shower the next morning…gross. Upon checkout we were given a whopping 10% discount. This discount does not nearly justify the lack of execution. We should have been given the previous guest’s cleaning fee because clearly the hotel didn’t clean properly. Further, the pool is a major reason we paid at least $50 more than an another hotel without a pool for the same night. The whirlpool was boarded up and clearly this pool has been down for some time. Oh, I almost forgot: at 6:30am Saturday morning it took me about 10 minutes to find someone and ask for more toilet paper in the lobby men’s restroom. Attention to detail is not this establishment’s forte.

When I arrived, there was chocolate milk spilled in entryway, but the lady at the front desk was welcoming. Upon walking down the hallway to my room, there was red vomit on the floor. We had to walk around it to get down the hallway. We had been traveling for 6 hours and wanted to get some sleep. The room did not have soap nor kleenex. There was black fuzz on the carpet. The heater made a crackling noise, the fridge made a knocking noise, the television had about 9 colorless circles on the picture when you were watching it. When we got up in the morning, the bathtub did not drain when you were taking a shower. When we were checking out, I spoke to nice young lady who took my name and phone number because I wanted to speak to a manager. I also told her at that time all the problems with the room. She assured me that a manager would call me back after she arrived on the property at 8:30am. After leaving I called IHG, who was very accommodating and apologetic. They told me that the manager would be contacting me also. A manager never called me. I actually called the manager after waiting 2 days. The manager was not apologetic at all on the phone. Initially, she told me that she didn't have my phone number and that she emailed me and I responded. Since I didn't receive an email, nor responded to anything, I asked her what email address she used. She couldn't give me one. So, when I asked her again about the email, she told me I was shouting at her. Upon asking her a third time about the email, she told me that she responded to an email from IHG, and it was IHG's job to send me that email. She then told me that she called me and left a message. Since I received no phone call nor message and since she told me at the beginning of the phone call she didn't have my number, I questioned her about this also. She claimed IHG gave her the wrong phone number to call. She also said several times during the phone call that because I called IHG, this is the way it has to be. She never apologized for anything until I asked her for an apology. I caught the manager in 2 lies. She lied about emailing me, and lied about calling me. This is 100% unacceptable. As a manager, you should own up your mistakes and apologize for your lack of customer service.

We had just spent 3 nights in a DIFFERENT hotel where the bathroom was so small there were only 2 inches of clearance between the open door and the toilet, AND the sink and vanity were outside the door, so when you used the sink in the middle of the night, you risked disturbing your roommate. We stayed at Holiday Inn Express South Bend for just one night, passing through. I made the reservation from the road and we arrived an hour later, and they had it. The night clerk, without me asking, gave us a room away from children. We were glad to see the normal, big bathroom with sink in the same section. For breakfast, instead of the usual crumbly scrambled eggs, they had much tidier mini-omelettes. And, of course, CINNAMON ROLLS. If you wake up early and don't want to disturb your sleeping companion, you can take a nice walk. Take a left out the door, walk a block or two, and then take a left on... I forget, but there's a big, paved bike/jogging path that goes through a meadow and woods. It leads to Notre Dame, but I didn't get that far.

Customer service is awful and the place is filthy. Head 6 minutes west to the downtown area, much nicer hotels. When I went to check in the front desk person would not acknowledge me until they finished the conversation with one of their friends. I booked through American Express and they did not have my reservation in their system. They told me I had to cancel the reservation with American Express and rebook through them.

We arrived late at night in part due to the nearby time line. The room was ugly. The colors were bad and outdated, the furniture was aluminum with a cheesy wood grain applique. It was a suite and had a lot of space but just not attractive in any way. Not a problem since we would be sleeping mostly. When my wife got to the bed, she discovered there was sand in the sheets, in both beds. The management cheerfully gave us a new room across the hall, this was not a suite. We were told that a note was left for the manager to do something about the price. The sheets were wonderful. The microwave oven had not been cleaned after the last use and there was food all over it. I went to check out and the desk clerk offered me a 10% discount for the smaller room. When I didn't think that was acceptable she went and asked someone else. He returned and said because it was purchased through *******, that they would have to deal with it, but they would be helpful to that end. He told me to write my info on a paper and he would put it in the managers box and he would be contacting me later that day.I waited a week and no one contacted me, and that is indicative of their commitment to customer service. I asked how many bell carts they had and I was told "one".

This is not the hotel you seek. Upon registering, when the desk clerk announced my room number to the lobby full of people, I should have known to find better accommodations. And while it was a heat wave and 97° outside, my room struggled to get below 77° the entire 14 hours that I was in it. I tried to cool off in the pool and when I got out found it there were no towels in the pool area so I dripped into the lobby where I thought I could get help to find pool towels, but the person behind the desk refused to look up from whatever he was doing on the computer as I stood there making a puddle on the tile floor in the entryway. So I dripped back to my room where I changed for dinner and found the bathroom floor to be sticky with something not of my making. I had a great dinner (Roselily in South Bend is not to be missed) and came back to a 79° room. I put a bucket of ice in front of the air conditioner and went to bed, when I got up it was actually down to 77. Put my make up on and it slid right off, went to breakfast and found that “their ovens were down“ and they had only apples oranges and three dried up hard boiled eggs available. This may be fine accommodations for college students waiting for a dorm room or what not, but business travelers who need to work and wake up refreshed should find accommodations elsewhere.
