Distinction Hotel Rotorua

stayed for three nights in a Superior Room. The room description and photos clearly showed an air conditioning unit, so I was surprised to find that it was not working. I reported it straight away and was told by the receptionist that it would be fixed the next day. After a busy day out, I came back expecting it to be sorted, only to be told that it could not be fixed and that there were no other Superior Rooms available to move me into. The room was also quite noisy, so overall it did not feel like good value for the price. I probably would have overlooked most of this if the customer service had been better. Unfortunately, the filipino receptionist came across as quite unfriendly and dismissive. I also noticed she seemed much warmer and more welcoming to some guests than others, which did not leave a great impression. Overall a disappointing stay and not what I expected from a Superior Room.

I think this hotel was great value for the price we paid. It's literally a 10-15 minute walk from the Te Puia cultural center, which is the reason we fly into Rotorua for the day. 15-minute Uber ride from the airport and back, easy in and out. Another benefit was the room size. I was able to get a one bedroom so my husband could get some work done while I relaxed in the adjoining room. Wifi was good enough for what we needed it for. The included breakfast was... Meh. Quite lackluster. Probably one of the lesser quality breakfast buffets we've had in a while... But I wasn't expecting anything spectacular though. The place has older vibes with a stench in the air. I'm not sure if it was a sewage problem, or maybe it was wafting over from the geysers? But either way it wasn't pleasant.

We had an overnight stay in a executive suite. The bed was super comfy, the room decor was little outdated but everything was super clean. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Great selection for breakfast and the D bar is great space to have a few pre diner drinks. Hotel is close to the redwoods and Te Puia, and a 5 min drive to the Sir Howard Morrison convention centre.

everything was great apart from the room itself. Badly needs updating especially the bathroom. Didnt think it was worth what we were charged. Staff were friendly & helpful, food was ok.

Very good

Vet comfortable bed, nice room and breakfast was good. It was nice to lie in the hot tub in early evening. The only real disappointment was the poor equipment that constituted the gym.
