Driving down the mildly terrifying driveway deposits you in this beautiful lakeside resort. The breakfast area and lakefront are quite lovely—kayaks are provided free of charge and there is a lakeside sauna and hot tub. Breakfast is solid, with both hot and cold offerings and someone making coffee, espressos, etc. to order. I thought our room was average—on the small and dark side, but the queen-sized bed was very comfortable. Each room also had a small deck or patio.

Staff, especially the on-site manager could not have been more warm and welcoming. Beautiful location, however, for the cost I would have expected more quality within the room. Our room had a very out-dated appearance with poor quality furnishings. Really needs an over haul and some money spent.

What a great experience! The location, the room, the view and the hospitality were all wonderful. I highly recommend staying here for anyone visiting Rotorua. Very peaceful spot right on the lake yet still close to most of the attractions in the area.

This lodge is in a lovely location very peaceful (not a place to stay if you want to walk back from a nightclub as it's a bit out of town). The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast good - a shame they don't do an evening meal as you have to get a take out or drive into town. The room was comfortable and the facilities clean and spacious. The view over the lake is beautiful - wished we had stayed more than one night - we will be back.

Fantastic location; large, well equipped rooms. Enormous, very comfortable bed. Filtered water complementary, along with limitless teabags. Light, airy bathroom with lovely corner bath and separate shower. Canoes available for the lake and hot tub right on the waters edge which was great. Arun and the ladies at breakfast were all super friendly and helpful. We had a small issue with towels being replaced when we had not put them on the floor and the replacement was not clean. However this was very quickly and courteously dealt with by Simon who had already offered a very warm welcome and given us all the info we needed for our stay. We were sorry to leave Koura Lodge, would recommend it at the drop of a hat and hope to return one day.

Stayed here on our trip to New Zealand. Located away from the town centre in a quiet location on the lake edge this is an ideal place to stop and enjoy Rotorua with easy access to all attractions. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful and provided an extensive buffet breakfast. The room was extremely comfortable and ours had direct access to the lake where there were canoes to borrow and a hot tub if required. Very enjoyable stay and definitely recommend.

This boutique lodge is in the most beautiful location on the shores of Lake Taupo. The views of the lake and the immaculate gardens are memorable. The accommodation is lodge style and comfortable, the room has a patio door which steps out onto a terrace with lovely lake views, and the buffet breakfast is good. Be aware though that the hotel does not have a bar or restaurant and is situated out of the main town in a residential area and you will need to drive to get to restaurants in the evening. The hosts are welcoming and friendly and I would recommend this relaxing lodge for the stunning views and beautiful location.

I’m presuming a lot of properties in NZ are struggling since Covid but unfortunately, if we are still paying a lot of money the standard should be so much better! Koura Lodge was so disappointing. I couldn’t even walk on the carpet without shoes. Very grim. The breakfast was very below standard too.

Absolutely wonderful place. Amazing views and a fantastic room. We had the 1 bedroom apartment which has a full kitchen, wraparound deck, vey comfortable living area with Netflix and prime TV and pool table. I could live there happily.

A little bit of heaven on earth. Absolutely lovely location, directly on the lake. Great decor and wonderful staff. Not far from the city center. A real gem. There is also a hot tub and sauna for guests directly on the lake. Not too many rooms, this keeps everything cosier and quiet. Do stay here if you get the chance, you won't be disappointed.
