The front-of-house staff are very friendly, and the food is very good, but....they stop serving supper at 7.15! When I asked why, they said it was because the kitchen staff have to leave by 8. My TV was stuck to the wall in a place where there was absolutely nowhere you could sit and watch it. I mentioned this to colleagues, and some said I was lucky as their TVs had no signal. I did tell reception - twice - and each time was told that a manager would contact me. They never did - so am not impressed.

24th May 2024 We had the best day for our wedding at Salomons and couldn’t recommend it more to anyone looking for a wedding venue! Our wedding coordinator, Willow, and her team were incredible on the lead up to our big day & the day itself. Our day was stress free and seamless. The rooms were decorated beautifully, everything we asked for was there, Willow kept me in the loop, guided us through the day & was always on hand if we needed anything - we really could not have been happier. Food was exactly as we had at our tasting session, chefs cooked for 50 guests and plates were left clean! We had lots of decorations and extras, which Willow took on with no problems & assured me that nothing was too much. This includes accommodating our outside suppliers, some of them being a little last minute! Our cottage was lovely & clean, enough room for all the groomsmen’s morning of the wedding. Breakfast next day was appreciated and loved by all the next day. All our guests loved the day and said wonderful the venue & all the staff were! Thank you again! Mr & Mrs Mcintosh x

Beautiful views and scenery but very basic rooms. Also, I accidentally left a pair of Apple air pods in the room, and requested the facility send them to me in Canada. Apparently someone put it in the mail, but they never got a tracking record, or receipt that shows when and where it went. A las, the airpords never turned up in Canada. Very frustrating to lose something expensive like that. No reimbursement, no help from the company. Won't stay here again.

My partner and I booked for a 1 night stay. Upon arrival very nice receptionist, good information, we were told that breakfast was cooked and continental, no mention of extra fees. The room was very clean, everything we expect, 2 minor maintenance issues. The bed, was the worst mattress I have ever “slept” on, I work up every 2 hrs, by the morning both hips, knee, lower back all hurt. Partners back was also bad and he had not slept well either. You could feel the padding was gone and a lot of springs and the pillows, even with 2 went flatter than pancakes. At breakfast we had to find the person on duty and were directed to the breakfast area, it was just continental, no cooked. We did query this and was told that if there are no weddings on, cooked isn’t a option and is extra. The same receptionist from the night before denied she has said cooked was included, we both remember it was it was shown the paperwork that was signed. We did get a cooked breakfast after this discussion and what was there was very good quality and tasty. At checkout we were asked about the sleep and we gave our feedback, we did receive a discount. We were told that some rooms had new mattresses, the hotel was not full; so, why give guests a room with a horrible mattress? If you hadn’t have done, we’d have slept well, not been tired and there fore not fussed about the lack of cooked breakfast and your review would be higher. Bad business sense to put guests in poor quality rooms when you are empty, as such I will not recommend you. Also our room was a walk up a steep road, the stairs where blocked off, which was hard going and frankly dangerous.

Firstly, this is not my first time staying at this property, but it will be my last. Earlier this year, my stay was wonderful, but this time was a different story. I think it's important to let people know about my experience beforehand so they can make informed choices and not be disappointed. Here are a few things to be aware of: 1. The on-site restaurant was closed during my stay, so I had to either go out to get food or order takeout to my room. And bar was closed too. It’s would have been helpful to know this in advance. 2. The pictures on ******* are incorrect, specifically for the cottage. The images were misleading, as the self-catering cottage There are self- catering but not show. . I advise bringing everything you think you'll need, as as was no food and drinks. When we stay. . 3. The website implies that breakfast is included, but this is not the case. I stayed on 21/12/23 and was disappointed to find out that there was no complimentary breakfast as advertised. 4. On the morning of my check-out, I spoke to a receptionist who informed me that the property is now focused more on hosting conferences and weddings. They seemed less interested in addressing my concerns, giving more priority to these events than to the guests. They even asked if I had booked directly with them instead of using a third-party site. Although I have stayed at this property multiple times before without any issues, I have decided that I will not be returning. There are many other

The Mother's Day Afternoon Tea was absolutely brilliant. Food was excellent especially the selection of cakes. The staff met all our dietary requirements and the service and surroundings were faultless. It was a fantastic day, we had a look round the museum as well and that was very interesting. Although raining on the day we have visited before in better weather and the grounds are gorgeous.

Travelled here to stay for family wedding Located on sprawling wooded estate Main building originally a private home, and is stunning. Accommodation in scattered motel type buildings throughout the estate. Travelled 7 hours, in bad conditions, no food or bar available in this hotel due to hosting another function! Take away menus in the room, local take always a few minutes drive, plus delivery options, but what we’re we supposed to eat it with?, as we had no cutlery/ crockery and reception quite a walk. Ended up opting to drive and pick up fish and chips so we could at least order in trays and get forks. Not good for a hotel to have no facilities Bedroom small, very comfortable bed. Usual tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom no window, so not ideal, and they are providing shampoo/ conditioner etc in small plastic bottles although there was a shower gel dispenser in the shower, it was empty. Please stop using these single use plastics here you can! Breakfast good. Good quality, sliced bread dry as it was just left out uncovered. I felt like we were very late customers on a coach holiday when we went in at 9.30 (breakfast available until 10.30). Huge shared tables, with staff emptying tables around us - fair enough, but also taking off table clothes and throwing on the floor. We sat in there surrounded by 3 large empty tables. Just leave the cloths on until 10.30! Housekeeping noisy in morning, couldn’t sleep in even if you wanted.

Firstly, this is not my first time staying at this property, but it will be my last. Earlier this year, my stay was wonderful, but this time was a different story. I think it's important to let people know about my experience beforehand so they can make informed choices and not be disappointed. The 3rd party there use said implies that breakfast is included, but this is not the case. I stayed on 21/12/23 and was disappointed to find out that there was no complimentary breakfast as advertised. There. No bar. Or restaurant. On the night of our stay. I told due to staffing issues this was nice if communication with us. But guess didn’t have a contact details. As book through 3rd site The accommodation stay is very equipped. but not what the pictures shows us. That I thought strange. But just could error of the website. As will have stayed at the property earlier in the year. so we knew what the place was like. Enjoy it. But there’s a lot of changes that we could probably get the other hotels and accommodation that are more value for money. The ground are. Fantastic. To walk round. As I see why this is a wedding hotel. Overall there’s too many changes for what we remember. For early time in the year for us to return but It doesn’t stop any other guests experiencing it for themselves.
