I didn’t know how to turn on the air conditioner in the room, so I ordered a set meal that included breakfast and dinner. The burgers for dinner were delicious, and the steak for an extra 2.5 was even better. There are many peacocks, which can be fed and are not afraid of people. After staying for three days, I met a couple having their wedding there on the first day.

Customer service was excellent throughout our 2 day stay. We booked the historic experience which included evening meals, a bottle of Prosecco each day and free tickets to local historic attractions. It was extremely good value. Food was to a very high quality, staff made us extremely welcome and the grounds (including peacocks) was stunning. It is an historic building so will always have its quirks and lack of mod cons but just enjoy the experience of staying in such an amazing historic property.

This wonderfully historic hotel was simply unique. The grounds, staff, rooms and the Peacocks made this an experience like no other.

I rang to ask if they had a lift, the person on the phone said yes and she would make sure our room was by the lift. We arrived and were told our room was up 3 flights of stairs. I explained about the phone call, she said, we don't have a lift. I have a back injury and walk with a stick. The person didn't seem bothered and I had to struggle with the stairs. This upset me and spoiled the stay. If we hadn't paid a lot of money for our stay, I would have gone home

This hotel is suffering from genteel decline. Very grand at one time, it is now very sad. The decor is very tired made worse by applying great expanses of dark green paint. The dining hall, once a magnificent place for a banquet, is now overshadowed by the chimney piece being covered by a multitude of modern mirrors! Just awful and highly inappropriate. The bedrooms are very tired, the curtains in our room (215) literally shredded. No paint left on the windows with some screwed shut otherwise they'd fall off! This hotel food relies heavily upon its freezers and uneaten food at breakfast is recycled the next day! Anything Welsh about the food? Of course not! Any Welsh beer sold? Of course not! Anything Welsh about this hotel? Well, the local Welsh staff are nice and try hard and, of course, the hotel is in Wales! At the present time, not a good place to stay despite the lovely grounds and the beautiful Peacocks!

An interesting old castle hotel with lots of character but a little shabby but I would stay there again.

Popped for a hot drink after going to see some NGS gardens in Castle Street. My partner and I decided to have a hot chocolate as the weather was cold outside, even for the end of June it was cold. The young man behind the bar was very polite and told us he would bring our hot drinks through. Price was reasonable too. After waiting a wee while they arrived. Unfortunately the drinks were cold, sure we asked for *Hot Chocolate*. No we didn't make a fuss, it's not us, but for a lovely hotel and splendid grounds, disappointed indeed. Make up for it, we got some fantastic photos of their resident peacocks doing a display in the grounds. Hence the 3 stars, and the politeness of your staff. Just up the quickness of service and quality then I would have given 5 stars.

Room suitable, but meals not good, was charged for items for evening meal.breakfast has to be booked, was self service , either English or continental. English available, bacon , sausage, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, Beans and toms, all were not available, except some sausage, bacon beans and toms. The serving was not filled . No white bread for toast. No yogurt,no coffee only hot water for tea. As breakfast is booked, items lacking isn’t good.more handrails needed at entrances and exits to seating areas for disabled people, better signage inside , as one woman in crutches walked a long way b4 discovering she had to go back to place she was looking for , the problems with food made my stay dissapointed. Rooms and staff hood though
