We had an absolutely amazing experience. The views from our room were incredible and the activities of the animals were a joy to watch. Hummingbirds everywhere, goats playing, and chickens running around. Breakfast was totally yummy and we all brought home some homemade goat cheese. Can’t wait to return!

We stayed at MGL in August 2020 & 2022, and enjoyed 'roughing it' in one of the retro campers, and walking the property - which has great mountain views and sweet goats. This year we decided to 'upgrade' to the slightly larger Bunkhouse camper which affords more space, but is still rather 'cozy.' Our experience this time around was a bit disappointing. We arrived in the pouring rain, and were surprised to see the awning which protects the outdoor table and chairs was not in place, so everything out there was soaked. We were not greeted, as in the past, with a lovely pot of petunias, and the area around the campers seemed a bit unkempt. Perhaps more attention is paid to the lodge and its guests? (We hear Gina's breakfasts are fantastic, but camper folk need to pay $25 pp for that option.) Inside, the camper was clean, and bare bones. There were some dishes, pots & pans, silverware, plastic glasses, mugs, a small coffee maker, microwave, stovetop & oven, but don't expect to cook a full meal here...and bring your own wine glasses! The bed was made up with very dark-colored, polyester microfiber sheets, which are not at all breathable. Give me good old cotton any day! The comforter on the bed looked worn, and the extra comforter in the closet was stained. We had to call our hosts four times to find out how to work things in the camper (stove, oven, hot water, lights). Granted, we are not 'camper people,' so others more savvy might have been able to figure things out on their own. Darcy was wonderful, always there in a flash to give us instructions how to work things. Even he exclaimed, "It might me good for us to have an information sheet in here." Yes! As others note, this place is right alongside Hwy 285, so there is traffic noise. That really didn't bother us, but if you want peace and quiet, you might want to seek it elsewhere. This is a unique, beautiful property. I'm sure Gina and Darcy are working tirelessly to maintain it, but a bit more attention to detail would be welcome, at least with respect to the campers.

A great experience at Mountain Goat Lodge with a walking path, goats, chickens, ducks, a llama, etc. One of the most comfortable beds I can remember and breakfast was amazing. WiFi is a bit weak, but the view makes you put down your phone and enjoy the moment.

Dear Gina and D'Arcy We enjoyed our time at Mountain Goat Lodge from start to finish (although the finish came all too soon). You two are wonderful hosts, and we loved meeting the goats, the dogs, Alice-the-Library-Cat, one of two llamas. The cow, ducks, and chickens, and Emergency Back-Up llama were mostly busy when we tried to touch base, but we get it. Everything about your inn is somehow better than everything else about your inn, and we're not sure how you do that. The food, the conversation, the views, the suite, our proximity to Salida and other wonderful places: all remarkable. Thank you so much. Please smooch Layla and Sookie for us. Mary and Tony

Very therapeutic and relaxing. It felt like being home and the scenery, amazing! Hosts, goats, and meals incredible! Gina and Darcy are excellent owners and very accommodating to their guests. I loved the morning breakfasts (delicious) and especially getting to know the other guests as well. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth the stay. I miss the goats already!

What an amazing experience! The bed was so comfy and the room was cute and quaint. The breakfast, delicious. But the true magic of the place is people and all the animals. Even though Gina and Darcy were so busy they always had time for nice conversations and advice. Gina even took the time to walk with me around their beautiful property, so fun to experience the animals coming up to her. Can’t wait to come back!

My son and I stayed in the tipi. It is a great experience. Gets cold at night, bring extra blankets. The owners are very personable and will answer all your questions. The animals are so sweet and friendly. There are many options of where to stay.

Terrific breakfast, especially those cinnamons rolls; loved all the animals (well maybe not the cat) and had an informative tour of the place. Gina is a great hostess. Comfortable room- such fluffy towels, too. Wanted to enjoy wine on the balcony but rain prevented that plan. Enjoyed downtown Salida and the river walk.
