We booked this hotel based on some favourable reviews but we were a bit disapointed. The location is quite good being close to the I81, but far enough away to not be unduly affected by the noise. There are plenty of restaurant choices just north on Hwy 11 within a couple of miles. The noise from the airport was not too intrusive. Check-in was quick but awkward as I had to talk through a small hatch. The main lobby was closed. I wish she had offerred me a choice between ground floor and upstairs as I do not like rooms with patio doors for security reasons . The hotel parking lot was reasonably kept but the hallway to the room was dirty and covered with a carpet well past its due date. The room was clean, or judging by the strong odor of SOS cleaner, was probably so. The bathroom was spotless and did have a hair dryer. The main room itself was quite dark which was not helped by the wall coloring or the dark carpets. The carpets themselves seemed clean but were most uninviting as the longer fibres seem to invite dust and dirt. To the hotel's credit though, my socks did not get too staiined during the stay. A change to laminated flooring would be a big improvement. There was a mini-fridge but no mictrowave or coffee maker. The bed was reasonably comfortable. Poor seems a harsh rating and I wish there was a 2.5 star rating available. While some of the facilities were quite acceptable, the exterior appearance in the hallway, and the dark and gloomy room just did not provide a welcoming atmosphere. For a quick one-nighter it might be okay but I will probably look elsewhere for my next visit to Syracuse.
