SOL Hotels in Salou

We booked 4 nights her with a view to visiting the Portaventura theme park. When booked it said parking was available but could not be booked in advance There are roadworks outside the hotel so access is poor and it is all 1 way streets. We eventuality got there and parked in the very right underground parking (13 spaces). Went to reception and was told you have to pre book parking so we had to move as it was booked up. We had to park in a pay and display about 1/2 a mile away which you could only pay for 24 hours at a time 6 euros. So had to keep going back every morning. Walking up the corridor it did not feel like a 4 star hotel. A few chunks missing in the walls that had just been painted over. The lift if it had more that 2 adults and 2 kids in would say overweight and wouldn't move. The room itself was nice and clean and air conditioned. The first morning we had breakfast in the hotel for 11 euros each. It was OK but then found a number of places locally that offered a lot better breakfast for less cost. (8 Euros for full English breakfast). The staff at the hotel were very friendly. The hotel site says it has a safe in the room, which it does. I could not get it to work so asked reception. They advised it is 4 euros per night to use the safe. It is the cost time I have stayed in a 4 star hotel that charged you to use the safe in the room. They said it is because it is provided by an outside company. Overall the hotel is nice and looking at some of the others in the area it is probably one of the better ones. I would not say it is 4 star, more a 3 star or 3 and a half star. We are currently in valencia in another 4 star and that is a totally different level to this. Review of that to follow.

We have stayed at the Dorada Palace on several occasions. Never disappointed. Recently the management has been taken on by Port Aventura and it has had a multi million pound facelift. We particularly liked the style of the 'wooden slat' additions to the pillars and lift door surrounds. There have been a few criticisms of the hotel in previous reviews. Ignore these negative comments ! The hotel is fresh, clean and tidy and the food is excellent with a good daily variety to suit all tastes. All the staff are so friendly and keen to please if help is needed in any way. It is central for the shops and beach and very close to the theme park which is 50% discount when booked at the hotel for half board guests like us. If you are all inclusive there may be free entry passes. Two people got into the lift next to me and said 'Isn't this hotel fabulous ! Better than the one we stayed in last year at Salou'. I think that sums it up, we are going to book this hotel again for next year.

Very nice hotel and fantastic buffet breakfast. The only downside is that we were two couples in different rooms and one had a single large bed and the other two beds together. Very good location to spend two days in the park. Very kind employees.

Very comfortable stay in the hotel with very good facilities. Acceptable food at the level of a hotel buffet. The only drawback was the scandal that occurred in the next room, although that is not the hotel's problem but rather society's...

Good location to shops, beach & restaurants. The hotel itself was clean & pleasant. Breakfast was good selection. Beds are a little to hard so was fine for short visit but wouldn’t recommend for long period. The worst was having no control over air conditioning, I appreciate it is April but we should be able to control our own temperature & it was just hot air. Not overly comfortable sleeping with balcony door open but had to to get air. For that reason I wouldn’t return.

No loss is the villa hotel, the scenery is very good, the facilities are good, there is a swimming pool on the first floor, all aspects are more convenient, next to the Ferrari amusement park, is the 18 euro buffet to drink water need to pay separately

Fantastic!! First impressions clean ,tidy entrance.friendly staff on reception and in the shop. Room very clean and cool, balcony nice with 2 chairs and a table.but the view overlooked the street with local shops etc, bathrooms great, ( except a tiny bit of mould by the shower- which could easily be cleaned). Lovely white towels, some toiletries.cleaners were great came in daily if needed. Breakfast was typical cooked breakfast. My son only had toast. But he really fussy. I loved the croissants and fresh fruit, fresh melon. Coffee was amazing. 3 mint walk to the beach. 2 jacuzzi’s, 1 a bit colder than the other, but still warm. These are cleaned and emptied daily at 9ish! It’s not busy, which is a bonus but it’s a shame as the hotel is fantastic. Only negative is you have to pay for use of fridge and I would love to have English to channels or even Netflix to make it a bit better- especially if you have kids. I can’t wait to come back. My husband and I had a week away from Barcelona staying at this adults only hotel. The reception staff were all friendly but especially Bea who was extremely helpful with things to go and see whilst we were here as the weather was not the best. Rooms were really nice, clean and tidy, with comfortable beds, but the pillows not so comfy. Could have done with a table on the balcony too. Breakfast was a good choice with the option to order freshly cooked too and the staff were friendly and kept the place ticking over nicely. The spa was a bit of a disappointment as it only has steam room and sauna and a jacuzzi for 8 people, so we only used once and the games room was not available durin the week due to conference. Fortunately we had our own cards and dominoes. Overall a good visit to Salou, where we visited Cambrils, Tarragona, Reus and Sama Park out of tourist season. I am sure it would be buzzing come Easter onwards. Thanks to the Magnolia Team for the great overall service.

Me, my wife and two children have just got back from staying at this hotel for 9 days. We stopped in a family room which was spacious enough and cleaned daily. Unfortunately there wasn’t much to do for our 6 year old little boy they did have a kids club but they were mainly Spanish so he wouldn’t of been able to make friends, the evening entertainment was poor for kids and again when there was kids entertainment nothing was spoken in English so he was upset about that. There’s not enough staff at the bar they were really under pressure taking orders throughout the day, but they were all well mannered and always smiling. There’s a ramp with a door at the top to get to the pool (we struggled with the pushchair for our baby as the door wasn’t automatic) be aware the ramp is very slippy I fell over once and my little boy fell twice I did mention it to reception but it’s just a bad design. The food was ok we were only bed and breakfast so can’t comment on lunch/dinner meals. The staff in the restaurant are really kind and always happy to help, all in all I wouldn’t come back to hotel with kids again in the future.
