It is a 10-minute walk from Salzburg Central Station, and even on rainy days you can walk about 70% of the way from the station under the gate, so you hardly get wet. You can also walk to the old town. The room was clean and had a bathtub, which is rare in Europe. Salzburg Central Station and the train tracks are right in front of the hotel, and it was fun just watching the trains from the window. Despite the train tracks right in front of me, I was able to sleep very quietly at night. There is also a refrigerator and air conditioning. There were two free drinks, sparkling wine and regular water. The staff were also friendly and nice. This hotel is recommended for sightseeing in Salzburg.

There's a modern and effortless charm about European hotels.This is a superb example of this. The Imlauer was perfectly positioned, well appointed and has one of the best restaurants I've ever enjoyed. Special compliment to Mayer and the staff at the adjoining restaurant.... Clean friendly, beautiful views, near the train station. Could not ask for more on my holiday in Salzburg...

Good hotel, rooms are clean but basic, staff are charming and helpful, breakfast is wonderful. Be careful if you have children in a room on a higher floor as the bathrooms have a seat by the window which opens to a straight drop down...when we mentioned this and requested a different room we were offered a quiet ground floor room straight away. Good location 2 mins from train station.

We liked this place a lot. One of the few on the trip that had A/C, and it worked. Location is on the main drag between the train station - less than 10 minute walk- and old town, about a 15 minute walk. The lobby is clean and inviting. We interacted with several desk staff during our stay and all of them were extremely friendly, polite and helpful. A great crew! Our room overlooked the train tracks coming into the city, but due to the excellent windows, we barely heard a sound. The windows could be opened, but with the AC there was little need. The room was set up for three, with a twin bed right by the door, and a king bed separated from the entry area by the bathroom. This gave some privacy to everyone. Beds were very comfortable, and all towels and bed linens smelled clean and fresh. Breakfast was great- hot eggs, sausages, cold meats, lots of other standard items in a very cozy restaurant. They also have a very nice looking beer garden, covered with chestnut trees, but due to timing, we did not eat there. The menu looked excellent. The Imlauer is part of a chain, and there are two "sides" to this hotel. We were in the traditionally furnished side, and there's an adjacent, more modern side. They also have a more luxurious hotel about a block away. As nice as this hotel was, it made me wonder what the luxury hotel is like.

In searching for hotels for our 2-week jaunt around Germany/Austria, we were looking for places that had 1) Air conditioning, 2) Parking, 3) Breakfast, and 4) A room setup that worked for our family. Location was just okay, not really picturesque, but we couldn't find anything closer to the old town that met these requirements. So we just took a taxi to Old Town area a couple times. It is, however, convenient to Mirabell Gardens and to the meeting point for the Sound of Music tour. Air Conditioning was heavenly on some hot days, parking was an open lot a couple blocks away which worked well for my big van. Breakfast wasn't anything to write home about it but it was fine, and the room setup was great- there was a separate area for two twins for the kids around the corner from the main room, with the bathroom in between. Overall really happy with the choice for a 4-night stay. Restaurant was REALLY slow on one night but we gave it a second chance and had a much better experience the second time.

Lovely hotel in a great location close to the train station and main bus routes. The room was perfect for our 3 night stay, very clean with comfortable bed and good air conditioning. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice including local foods and good quality products. I recommend booking an evening meal in the restaurant as they can get busy (always a good sign) they very kindly squeezed us in on a very busy night. Don’t bother traipsing into Salzburg to find a good evening meal, the food here is fabulous, especially the schnitzel!

Really nice restaurant and chill atmosphere. This place was recommended by our hotel front desk team ( only 8 min away walking). For tourists like us, it is exactly what we were looking for one of our dinners. If you want something traditional, easy and close... this place is great value.

I cannot fault the hotel or the staff. Having paid in advance I expected to pay the city tax as I have in the past wherever I've stayed. For the first time however, there was an extra charge of €2.00 per day per person for electricity. Maybe this is a sign of the times. This charge just took the shine off our stay.

We had a great experience at this hotel. Salzburg was the unexpected highlight of our 10 day, 5 city Europe trip and it had so much to do with the suggestions and assistance from the hotel staff! They were quick to recommend local restaurants and attractions, and nothing they suggested let us down. The room was small as expected, but it was clean and well-stocked. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station and within walking distance of Mirabell Gardens and the Old Town. The room was clean but a bit of a tight squeeze once you had luggage in. The shower occasionally had temperature fluctuations but had great water pressure. The hotel offered a diverse breakfast buffet spread. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.
