Hotel Frauenschuh Garni

This was our third visit to the Hotel Frauenschuh over the past fifteen years. The owners, who live on site, take pride in their small hotel and enjoy providing personal attention to their guests. We were advised to purchase the Salzburg Card which gave us a way to see some of the attractions without spending a lot of money. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable with the breakfast being something to look forward to. The hotel has ample parking which allowed us to hop on the bus, with the bus stop located directly across the street from the hotel. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Frauenschuh again. The view from the room is also fantastic.

So much to love about this place... this might be our favorite of all time because of location, friendly staff and charm all around. Our large comfortable room had comfy beds, small dining table, mini kitchen, large bathroom, jacuzzi tub and a balcony as well. Downstairs, we enjoyed a complete Austrian breakfast in the cozy breakfast room overlooking the mountains. This hotel is located in a quiet, almost pastoral area (complete with lambs grazing in various yards). You can walk down nearby Moostrasse to a small deli for lunch if you choose. Or take the city bus from Moostrasse to old town Salzburg, to the shopping mall or Ikea. We will return here each time, I promise!

Stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. Great location outside of the town surrounded by beautiful mountains. Breakfast is great with lots to choose from - cold cuts, meat, eggs, breads, pastries, cereal, yoghurts etc. What stands out to me is the staff who helped me to organize my last minute booking. I called to set it up and the lady who helped me couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. I was arriving outside of reception hours and they were also very helpful in leaving a key out so I could get into my room and organize the check in the following morning. The staff also gave me a map and pointed out things to do in the town and the bus route. It's a quiet and cozy place to stay and I will definitely return!

Nice and quiet hotel, rooms are big and very clean, staff very friendly and helpful, give a lot of information, bus stop right across the street, lovely breakfast, would certainly recommend with children as well, room where they can sleep almost seperately

We loved our two night stay at this beautiful family-run hotel just a few minutes out of Salzburg. No need for a car- the bus literally picks up right outside front entrance. Get a Salzburg card at the front desk so you can jump on and off the bus and get free entry into local sites - excellent recommendation by Hotel owners We had a spacious room that could accommodate 4. Big updated bathroom with heated drying racks for the towels. (Quick note for Americans- they have washcloths!) private balconies. The hotel looks like it was recently and lovingly updated. Our room has a separate room for bathing vs wc. Both very well ventilated. We were here in the early winter and rooms were the perfect warmth. Massive breakfast is included in the sunny restaurant. It’s hard to fully describe how kind and welcoming the family and their staff are. They genuinely appear to love their work and it shows. Had several discussions with them and felt so valued as a customer. There is a service available to guests that delivers local restaurant food right to the hotel in case you don’t feel like going out. This was perfect for us one night as my wife wasn’t feeling well. Otherwise you’re literally minutes on the bus (#21) from old town Salzburg and all it’s beauty. We utilized the Salzburg card to see Mozart’s birthplace, tour the fortress, and many local sites. We also booked the Sound of Music tour with Bobs Tours- all great. We ran out of time to try their sauna and spa and exercise room at the hotel but all looked amazing. We loved Salzburg and couldn’t recommend this great hotel and its owners more highly. Give them a try - you will love it, too.

I first came here to this hotel in April 2007. It was much better than I expected, and is quite possibly the best accomadation I've ever stayed in. OK at the time I was mainly used to scruffy hotels in Skegness, but this hotel was extremely clean and all the furniture and facilities were lovely and new. The view from the balcony of my room was fantastic, with a manificent view of Untersburg and other mountains and fields in the distance. The hotel is based in a nice quiet neighbourhood, but with a bus running to the town centre every 20 min from directly outside the hotel and it don't take long to get into the centre of Salzburg (about 10 min). If you fancy a walk it takes about 25 min to the centre and it has plenty pubs along the way, so you can get yourself merry for when you get into the centre of Salzburg for further drinking. The hotel itself offers a nice big TV in all rooms, Internet acces via wireless and wired connection. If you stay there for 10 nights or more you get 20% discount on one of your nights. The breakfast very good if you like cold meat and freshly prepared every morning. The owners of the Pension Frauenschuh, are very helpful and are more than willing to give you tourist information about Salzburg and arrange tours for you etc. All in all this hotel gets 10/10 easily by my standards. In fact I liked it so much I returned 4 months later as I promissed the owners just for the hell of it and I plan to return again sometime very soon for another relaxing break at Pension Fraunshcuh!

A bit far from the city center but, if you like walk, the way for it is very pleasant, if not the bus stop is just in front of the hotel. The room are very cozy, clean and very well fournished. Wanderful breakfast, very delicious and the owner are very nice.

This is surely a place one would love to keep going back to. Great points about this place for me were 1) not far from the airport 2) a bus stop to the city just outside the hotel 3) Lot of walking option to enjoy life and nature here 4) A cozy stay and not in the midst of the busy city 5) Fantastic breakfast 6) Seriously helpful staff 7) Overall beauty of its location Possible negatives could be 1) Its most perfect if you have a car what with the free parking and the slight distance issue from the city ( we did have a car so we didn't have any issues at all).There is a Supermarket (closes most likely by 7.00 pm) and hotels accessible with a few minutes drive. There is also a petrol station pretty close by. In all honesty,it was one of our best stays, inspiring, tranquil, surrounded by mesmerizing nature.We enjoyed the blue mountains, the walks and the wonderful rain which accompanied.
