Staff were mostly rude and not friendly. The dorm room was dirty, unclean sheets and unbelievably hot. One fan was provided for the 18 bed dorm (we had to ask the manager for it) the fan didn’t rotate and it became like a fan war in the night, people were unwell with how hot it got in the room and it was very hard to sleep! No ceiling fan. Lots of bugs in the dorm room. The menu was mostly unhealthy with overpriced food and drink, no slight adjustments were allowed to be made for your meal. Filtered water was also hot and when asked for ice it wasn’t allowed. Shower light turns off within 2 minutes of you showering and bathroom is very dirty. Pool was murky but also over chlorinated. We booked 3 nights and we couldn’t wait to leave.

I stayed here with two friends for just 2 nights. We were hugely impressed with the welcome we received on arrival. We also loved the relaxed but also entertaining vibe at this hostel. In addition the food is delicious. We would also like to thank the owner of the hostel, Golan, especially for saving us from a scam. Before arrival at Greengoes we had booked our shuttle with Never ending travel in Flores (DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY) book your shuttle with the hostel you stay in as you can trust this. Besides this bad experience Golan went out of his way and offered to take us for the same price as the shuttle they supply at Greengoes. I would highly recommend this hostel.

The actual building and set up is great but the staff on reception massively let the owner down. Bruno from Argentina was so rude to my friend and I when I asked if I could book a shuttle he said “what does the sign say?” And pointed to a sign that said “no stupid people allowed beyond this point”. Then when my friend stood up for us saying he was being rude he was like “ yeah you had a long journey from San Pedro today, you’ll survive”. The local staff were incredible and there was barely any language barrier with them their English was great. The other South African lady of reception was also defamatory about the local staff saying they “couldn’t speak English and to be patient with them” when actually they spoke brilliant English.

Vraiment dommage.

What a place! From the minute I walked into the property I felt the great hostel atmosphere! My boyfriend and I had a private room for 5 nights on the second floor of the colorful cabins. The rooms are simple but clean and have a lot of space. The shared bathrooms and showers were allways clean and shower were hot. We felt very welcome by both the receptionist, the staff in the bar and the owner. The owner were always making sure everyting were ok. The pool area was very clean and nice! Like a paradise in the jungle. Only 10-15min walk from the entrance of semuc champey I really recommend Greengo's! We extended for 2 more nights!

Fab location but otherwise a serious let down. Good food but overpriced. And For example, Black coffee took 30mins. Unnecessary card payment system - a hassle and a waste of paper - as well as not being told you can refund them at the end to con you into spending more. No wifi, only accessed by those entering password 20+ times. Some nice staff but useless on the information front. Bartenders often avoided serving people and did without any sense of urgency. We were told if THEY couldn’t get us a shuttle we would have to pay for a day pass to stay past a certain time. Before even checking out my items were moved and bed stripped without being asked. A few indigenous workers that they make such a fuss about helping revealed that they are overworked and are still not paid enough to support themselves. Dangerous dorm design, guest fell from 8ft bunk bed and broke a bone, little help for 9hr so had to get paid public shuttle despite a car parked outside. Lacks basic facilities like a bag storage room, fans or electricity in dorms. Hot water not guaranteed. Private rooms not always as advertised - not the pretty huts you see in all the pictures - and a serious range in quality making them stupidly overpriced. Definitely not a party hostel as nobody there (although they were “fully booked”) and nothing happening any night we were there. No indications any activities were any being planned any time soon. Has only half of the amenities it claims on TripAdvisor… no table tennis, badminton, karaoke etc. Good tour of the park despite being a bit chaotic and at times, unsafe. I have read the owner’s responses to other reviews on here and which are shocking and outrightly rude. Don’t waste your time or money staying here. So much potential in this hostel but may just be unsalvageable.

On the surface a good hostal which is clean etc. but it is too expensiv and there are some annoying hidden costs. It is runned like a company and doesnt feel like a home. They dont accept cash or credit cards at the bar but only a annoying punch card. The transport to the hostal is free but the one back to the town costs. Everything costs! The food can be good but is sometimes way too expensiv and there arent cheap options. Dessert for 60Q was just some Pizza Bread with Nutella and peanut butter with fancy name. There is no WIFI after 8pm and no electricity after midnight which isnt too bad but needs to be mentioned. I cant recommend the big dorms, since you have no space (this is complaining at a high level, but as I said it is not cheap!)
