Stumbled upon The Maverick by chance after we made mistake with an Airbnb booking. It was a Saturday at 5pm. Aprel at the front desk. Wow is she good ! She is soooo good I think they should clone her ! It's a new hotel in an old building and so there are bound to be teething issues..the hotel rooms are entered by 6 digit code and ours could not be attached to our fob for some time but eventually we were good to go and so we entered our studio room. It's small. However perfectly functional for 2 people with a kitchenette and all ameneties, sink, hob with kettle, coffee machine, plates, cups, bowls etc Bathroom has a shower and is standard. Bed was a Queen. Air con which is an absolute must was superb. Now the bad bits..outside noise can be an issue which of course is in no way the hotels fault, but the habit of ****** driving their cars with blaring music seemed prevelent to us on a Saturday night..the next night not so bad. However their isn't much sound proofing around the windows. The cleanliness of the floor in particular and the shower wasn't good. The floor seemed sticky in places with added dust and hairs and there is a rug around the bed which didnt look like it has seen a vacuum in its lifetime. Grim. The excellent bits ...Location! Wow. I couldn't believe how easy it was to walk to everything. River walk..3 minutes. The Alamo, 5 or 6 minutes. Food places, bars, easy peasy. And Aprel...clone that lady!
