Pros: Historic building. Nicely decorated. Diptyque products. Cons: Where to begin? After touring Alcatraz, we agreed that our room was honestly no larger than 2 of their tiny jail cells! We couldn’t even fully open our luggage bags, and had to close them to enter and exist the room! I travel a LOT, and I’ve never stayed in a room this small. Next issue, we were put in a room with a broken air conditioner. We came back from dinner and drinks and called down to say our room was hot. Reception said many rooms had broken AC’s, and we had to pack up and move to another room at 11pm. Not fun. This room was right next to house keeping, and we were woken on several occasions to very loud noises. I’m the hardest sleeper I know, and it woke me up early daily. We were exhausted. Not a restful stay. Moving along, the elevator was broken nearly our entire stay. This was a huge inconvenience and we were only on the 3rd floor. I felt for the many guests huffing and puffing on the stairs from higher floors! Lastly, in the reviews you’ll see guests mention a restaurant and bar. This does not exist anymore, nor does the complimentary pastries for breakfast. Very disappointing.
