We had to stay here as the week we were visiting San Francisco, there was a huge Oracle conference and all hotel rooms were exorbitantly expensive—many doubled or tripled their rates for the week of Sept 15-20th, 2019. The Motel 6 was more expensive than usual but thankfully, not over $500 a night as many other hotels were. The rooms here are basic but clean, well-maintained and spacious. The bathroom is small, but has a bathtub and toilet, though the sink is outside the bathroom. This can be advantageous when you are sharing the room as two people can get ready without one hogging the bathroom. The air conditioner is a BIG problem in all the rooms—it's mounted at waist level and blows air directly at one bed, so whoever is lying there will get the full force of the air blasts. And there is no adjustable louvre or grill, so the air will shoot straight out. Another big issue was that the electrical plugs in the room were all in bad condition—one plate was loose and coming out of the wall, and others were so old that they were very loose and plugs would literally just fall off after being inserted. The rooms don't come with irons or hairdryer, but these can be borrowed from the reception downstairs. However, the hairdryer we got was very old, weak and clogged with lint. They do not store luggage, so if you have some time after checking out and do not want to lug your bags with you, you will need to bring it to a nearby luggage storage facility and pay for storage. Staff are polite and helpful. Maid service is spotty as on some days, they did not clean the floors and did not leave bath mats. The location is a big drawback because it's in an area with a lot of homeless people and panhandlers. This is a big problem for San Francisco overall but there's a big concentration of homeless in this area, which borders the Tenderloin. But the hotel does a good job of keeping the premises well-lit, safe and secure. You need a key card to even enter the elevator and the area is kept clean.

There is a breakfast that is quite delicious. There is a parking lot. But when I wake up in the morning, the car next to me is smashed. Don't put a bag in the car! Going out, pay attention to safety
