Mystic River Resort is tucked away through a beautiful trek in the mountains of Cayo. A short drive from San Ignacio and down some windy gravel roads will make one wonder what this resort could possibly offer. The resort offers beautifully designed luxury cabanas each with their own private path through the beauty of the jungle. Each room has its own porch overlooking the Macaw river. The beds can be customized to one or two or one placed in the living rea to provide privacy. With the resort being 100 percent sustainable, there is no air conditioning but many fans available. The workers are very helpful from the start by carrying luggage from vehicle, and giving a orientation of the property. The grounds are absolutely stunning. Many well directed paths take you to the pool, nature walks, garden, kayaks etc. The resort offers free birdwatching, free canoeing, a yoga deck, spa services, pool, restaurant and bar They do ask you plan on notifying the front desk ahead of time if you plan on using the services. The restaurant and bar is open all day but in slower seasons special accommodations are made. All food is sourced directly from the garden on the grounds. Menu changes daily and can be viewed in the morning. Also recommended placing do not disturb on room if one wants to help preserve power otherwise room will be attended and all linens and sheets will be changed daily. All additional amenities may be charged to account so no need to carry cash except for tips. Had a wonderful stay enjoy the walks through the garden, yoga on the deck, sitting watching the birds, late night swims, canoeing down the river, room service on the porch and the overall kindness of all the employees.
