Shivering while sipping your coffee is not quite a luxury experience. We were here on a bike tour. We have toured throughout Europe and many times in Italy. This is the very first hotel I have ever encountered which charges to store bikes in a garage: 5 euros per bike per night. We were there for 6 days. I could understand if we had e-bikes that needed to be plugged into a power source, but ours were just leaned against the wall - for 5 euros each per night. Also be aware that the pool is off limits unless you are staying in the Palazzo. And the nice outdoor patio, you can only use it if you buy drinks from the bar. Lastly the staff at the front desk were thoroughly disagreeable. It was as if they didn't understand that we were the guests and their job was to welcome and assist us, not that we asked for much more than room keys. Having said that, the restaurant staff were gracious, friendly and accommodating. Again, I loved the concept, but the execution needs some work. Would I stay here again? Nope.

Great choice for touring Val D'Orcia. Stayed two nights here in April. This was our third visit to Pienza but our first overnight stay. Picked the Corsignano primarily because it offered free on-site parking and was only a short walk to the the old walled town. Delighted with our choice. It ticked all of the boxes. Friendly reception, nice (very) clean room with terrace, comfortable bed, great shower, good breakfast, short walk to the beautiful old city and great restaurants. Free on-site parking was actually quite limited and was full when we arrived. The receptionist moved her own car to free up a space for us. No problem the second evening. The receptionist did inform us that due to government requirements for energy conservation we would need to call the desk to turn on the heat if we wanted it. We encountered this in other hotels also. We were very comfortable without it. Pienza is the ideal location for touring and enjoying the Val D'Orcia and the most beautiful areas of Tuscany. The views approaching Pienza from the south in the evening are stunning and unforgetable and the views from the Belvedere behind the Duomo are pure magic. The iconic winding cypress roadway at La Foce and the tiny Capella Vitaleta are just a short drive away - (the Capella is now open to the public down a 15 minute walk) Everywhere you look is a painting. Pure magic!!

I have posted negative reviews, but rarely and only when I think it will keep someone else from being harmed. So if you are contemplating a stay at Osteria dell'Orcia, read this first. When it was time to book, the first call to the hotel was answer by Silvano the owner with a very cheerful “good morning.” So upbeat and cheerful that it felt like the soul of two millennia of that famous Italian hospitality was embodied in this man. A few logistical missteps on his part changed everything. It began when Silvano’s driver Francisco failed to show up at the airport in Rome to meet me and my elderly mother. I am sure there is a side to their story but I can’t imagine what it is. The pickup, flight information, hours, everything was clearly documented in email exchanges with both Silvano and directly with his driver. It probably had something to do with my afternoon flight being one hour late, information that was shared with them by email (twice) more than 6 hours before my scheduled arrival. Not to belabor this but when I called Silvano and inquired about where to find his driver, he went on a tirade that exhibited well known qualities of a clinically bipolar person. Not only did he not propose a solution but he told me not to come to his hotel and he made several more furious, mostly incoherent statements. We found lodging in Rome. I tried to call Silvano again to understand what had happened hoping that if there was a misunderstanding it could be smoothed over. He uttered something in Italian and then hung up on me. The next day I received an email from Francisco the driver who was supposed to meet me. It was a photograph of a menacing man who looked like Che Guevara showing his teeth. Underneath him was printed Sto Cazzo. Google translated that as F**k You. Be forewarned. You are dealing at this hotel was an unstable cast of characters. --, feel free to contact me here and I’ll be glad to share the entire email chain with you. In the meantime, why expose yourself to a wolf no matter how blithely he’s dressed in sheep’s clothing. The spa town has many other appealing hotel options.

Hotel dei Capitani is situated on the edge of Montalcino (only a 5 min walk from the centre) with spectacular views of the valley below. Rooms are quite small but provide wonderful views, a comfy bed and a well equipped bathroom. A good selection of cereals, pastries, etc were provided for breakfast on the terrace overlooking miles of Brunello vineyards below. There are some excellent restaurants in Montalcino so we didn't have dinner in the restaurant.

Cucina tipica toscana , piatti ottimi partendo dai primi sino ad arrivare ai secondi e dolci , cibo di qualità e materia prima molto fresca , la colazione al buffet e ricca e variegata , e la proprietaria ha anche l’attenzione di prepararti extra su richiesta . Lo consiglio vivamente per passare un momento di relax in pace tranquillità e serenità immerso nel verde e nella pace dei sensi.
