Park Place Inn and Cottages

This is a charming place in a lovely neighborhood. It isn’t fancy, but very nice, clean and a great bargain. Our room had a lovely patio which we really enjoyed. It is less than a mile from the downtown Sanford shops, restaurants and river walk, and less than 15 minutes from the Sanford Airport.

This place is a dump would never stay there again . When we first walked in our room it had a very musty smell to it (worse than our crawl space at home) so went turn on the wall A/C thinking that might help and found out it was full of mold and dirt . Called the owner and was told they could clean the A/C unit so we asked for a refund and was told no refunds so they let us stay in another room for one night ( we had to find a hotel for the rest of our stay ) and it wasn't much better at all but put up with it for one night. This place need to be inspected by the Health Department to make sure it is safe for people to be staying there witch I don't think it is at all . My advice would be to stay clear of this dump !

On arrival the owner informed us that there was building work for a small restaurant being carried out on the lower floor beneath our booked apartment and work started at 9am. This was OK with us as early risers but the fact that this work went on until 6pm, six days a week, did not make for a tranquil and peaceful vacation. We had Ivy Cottage which was very spacious with the lounge and both bedrooms being very spacious, and very comfortable. However, the bathroom and kitchen left much to be desired. The bathroom in general needed a complete updating and the shower head was that dirty that I had to clean it thoroughly before we could use it. Also there was no air extractor working there. The kitchen area really needed updating and a good clean. The cooker was very, very old and dirty looking and in desperate need of replacement. We couldn't use it. The utensils, plates and culinary was adequate but looked as they had come from either a thrift or charity shop. The exterior of the property felt rather neglected as the garden areas needed attention and patio areas, plus walkway's which weren't being used as a builders site, required a good pressure washing. The walkway to our apartment was at some times littered with various builders debris creating a somewhat health and safety hazard. This property has the makings of being really excellent in both location and presentation and it would only take a dedicated week or so to bring it up to that standard. Would also benefit from the owners living near or on site. Until then it looks a bit neglected.

This was the best place I have stayed in Sanford, and I would definitely stay again. It's an inn--not a hotel/motel, but it's been tastefully decorated and the rooms were clean. Loved the personal homey touches. Contactless check in was easy and they were quick to reply to any text I sent asking questions. I would definitely stay here again.

We stopped for the night. Wow what a surprise! The cottage was so clean and had all the comforts of home. The bed was beyond comfortable and the room was dark. The living room has nice furniture and we watched our favorite shows on TV. We were so pleased with our stay. Yes, we will be back.

The comforter has period blood on it. The pillows have no support. The bed was as firm as a table with a dip in the middle. This bed caused my back to go out right before my flight. 0/10 recommend if you want sleep. If they change this I’d rate higher minus the music blaring from cars all night long.

Before you book, this is the scam they run. I booked for a low and enticing price ($150 for one night). Shortly after, they contact me to say I wasn't getting what I thought I paid for. OK, price was cheap, so now we doubled it (over $300 - paid in full for one night). They wait two months for the free cancellation period to expire and contact me again stating they were raising the rate and I needed to call and give them my credit card so they could take another $110 from me! They probably thought I'd have no other options days before I was to arrive on a holiday weekend. The booking agency intervened and gave me a full refund. Hotel then relisted the unit for far less then what they tried to charge me. I have all correspondence in writting and will be happy to post it so people can see how this works. If you book and then receive a message starting with "We are sorry for the confusion, but..." run for the hills.

Room was as described-Chef’s Cottage- You can walk into the historic shopping/cafe area. The kitchen was quite large and well appointed but we didn’t need to use it. Rooms were clean and large. WiFi was sporadic (hence 4/5 review). Parking was plentiful and easy. Directions for code to our room came in a text. It’s a good thing I re-read the reservation info to realize we’d get the code just prior to arrival (like many AirBnB’s but without all the extra fees).

We rented the Historic Craftsman and two other cottages while we were in town for my brother's wedding. The place is lovely and the cottages are well maintained. The location is fantastic and the property manager was very responsive. Would recommend Park Plan Inn and Cottages.
