We found this to be a nice hotel and good value for the time of year. The hotel itself is very historical, and served as a hotel for hundreds of years, establishing as a place for religious pilgrims to go. The patron saint of Switzerland is buried at the church next-door. The hotel isn't fancy, and you do self-check in. It worked pretty well, and folks at the bar/restaurant will help if you are stuck - people working at the hotel are friendly and helpful. There is a decent elevator (which is not a given in Europe) and the included breakfast is reasonable. We had a junior suite for our party of 3, and it was basic but nicely appointed. Only problem is that the pull out couch was super uncomfortable, so my daughter just slept on it as a couch. There is no air conditioning, which isn't a problem most of the time, I'm sure. We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs one night and it was fantastic! Both food and service were outstanding, and a great find in a small town like Sachseln. We liked basing in Sachseln - all of the charm of Lucerne without the crowds and high prices, and close to places like Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, and Grindlewald. One more warning: the church next door has bells ringing a lot. Our junior suite didn't have a lake view and I am glad because lake view would have been directly by the church so the bells would have been louder!

The hotel is a twenty-minute drive from the city center, but driving is still convenient. There is free parking. The hotel is on the shore of Lake Lucerne, and the backyard is on the lakeside, with beautiful scenery. The hotel is surrounded by residential areas and there are no shopping places. Looking for a relaxing break in the Swiss Alos, close to the slopes, I found this little gem: a hotel, pretty rustique in the traditional Swiss way! Not far from the heart of Engelberg but far enough to contemplate the sky, see the stars and hear only the heartbeat of nature. Clean, very very clean, with comfortable rooms, not big, just comfy, most with a balcony overviewing the village. Staff, super nice and polite, ready to help and advise: had a 10% discount in my ski rental and anytime I wanted to go skiing they got in the minivan and took me to the resort! The restaurant was also nice, with delicious dishes and a savvy wine list. Not to miss! Only point I would like to note, the breakfast buffet: every day the same, not always fresh fruits available. Would like some variety and some chocolate croissants, please! Overall, a must go!

Quite a walk from the train station. Recommend to take the bus if you have the Swiss Travel Pass. Take the number 4 from the Bahnhof, gets off right after crossed the bridge at Brunigstrasse.
The first day I am only with 2 people so stayed in a triple room. The Shower room is directly open up to the bedroom with only frosted glass and no curtain. And sink is IN the bedroom so would have no place to change cloths. I guess it makes sense for any couple but kindly of odd for triple.
The second day a friend joined so we move to a family room with a proper washroom which is much more ”family friendly”
The hotel serve breakfast at a very low and nice price (in Swiss terms). Get hot water free at the lobby but no boiler in the room.
For the best it provides microwave oven, so can get food from nearby Denner if you are on a budget. Be sure to get in line early cause there will be people lining up at around 6.

A small, clean hotel in an excellent location overlooking Lake Lucerne with very friendly staff. We paid a premium to stay in a large, loft room and the bed was so uncomfortable and creaky that neither of us slept. They tried to remedy the situation but what was really needed was a whole new bed! We were also a little annoyed also to find that most people staying were part of an inclusive package whereby bed, breakfast and evening meal were included - and they were paying a special package price. Our bill for the 2 nights and one 3 course meal in the hotel’s restaurant (including a tip and the equivalent of a bottle of wine) cost over £1200. Too expensive for what we actually got.

The Staff was very friendly, one of them was Kevin (I Think), and also two other ladies also on the desk was very helpful in guiding us regarding our travel. We stayed for 3 days and the whole concept of the Hotel was different. We had an infant with us and wanted to change the room we were allotted and they readily agreed and luckily they had one bigger room with king size bed to accommodate them. The breakfast was regular and most importantly the staff being very nice and helpful, which has made an impression on us as this was the first time we traveled to this city. For the amount you pay for this Hotel in Lucerne, it's certainly very cheap for the services you get. It's based on a Theme so most of the rooms have bunker beds so even children would love it. Not much space inside the room or shelves to keep stuff. But then its a budget Hotel. Would stay again if I visit this city again. Its 8 minutes walk from the Station.

We stayed one night in the Hotel Luzernhof Annex. Stupidly we put my jewellery in a location in the room that we felt would be a good hiding place - it was so good we forgot about it when we departed early the next morning. Much to my dismay I didn't realise until we were in the UK awaiting our flight home. An email later, my little jewellery bag was in the safe hands of the hotel staff who went and retrieved it from our room. The lovely staff then posted it to another family member in Germany. I am so grateful for their kindness and attentiveness to our stressful (self inflicted) situation. Their honesty and quickness of action brought much comfort to me as the items held great sentimental & irreplaceable value. Thank you to all involved. The room in the annex was clean, comfortable, spacious, ideally situated and a great price. There were plenty of food options nearby. Although it had a shared bathroom, it was super clean and provided all that we needed. My sincere thanks to the Hotel Luzernhof.

We had one night here en route to the south, but would like to come back and explore the area further. We thought that the room rate and breakfast were excellent value, particularly for Switzerland. The hotel has been well maintained to a good 4 star level (it's a 5 star review, but for a 4 star hotel). Nice, old fashioned decor (1890s Belle Epoque meets 1980s), lovely people at reception, a grand room for the restaurant (not used) and for breakfast) and very comfortable beds. We will return!

GGuest UserBeautiful rooms overlooking the lake, small but pleasant SPA, fantastic restaurant with a gorgeous terrasse and a choice between excellent thai and european food, good service and last but not least, they have bycicles for their guests to enjoy free of charge which is a great bonus for us. They also run the ”Wylerbädli”, a small beach restaurant on the shores of lake Sarnen, which is a short walk from the hotel. The lady that runs the place is extremely friendly and the food she prepares is very fresh and tasty. We really enjoyed spending time ”at the beach” surrounded by such a beautiful landscape and overall lovely athmosphere! Thank you very much for everything, we will be back!

Die Kürbiscremesuppe und die Süsskartoffelsuppe mit Riesencrevetten kamen sehr heiss auf den Tisch und waren geschmacklich hervorragend. Die gedämpften Spinatknödel mit Bergkäse wie auch der Rettichsalat mit Feigen waren eine wunderbare Geschmackssymphonie, kaum zu übertreffen. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und obwohl sie viele Tische allein betreute, sehr freundlich und schnell. Das nächste Mal kommen wir mit grösserem Hunger! Die stilvolle Einrichtung hat uns auch sehr gut gefallen.
