この日の私たちの宿泊先は、東横INN薩摩川内駅東口。その名が示すとおり、薩摩川内駅東口にあり、駅まで徒歩１分という近さです。 薩摩川内駅は新幹線の停車駅で、新幹線開業に合わせてつくられたような、新しい駅です。こちらの東横インも、新しい駅の開業に合わせて進出したと思われる新しいホテルでした。東横インクオリティがしっかりしていて、簡素ではありますが、明るくきれいで、快適な過ごすことができました。

東横INN薩摩川内駅東口は、九州新幹線の停車駅である薩摩川内駅の東口にありました。薩摩川内駅自体が、おそらく新幹線の開業に合わせてできたと思われる新しい駅で、東口の建物は、その後開発された場所のようでした。ですから、新しい感じの東横インです。 その分、飲食店などはほとんどなく、私たちも夕食をいただくために駅の西側へと行きました。 ホテルとしては、東横インですから施設や設備などは簡素です。新しいからというのもありますが、館内も客室も明るくてきれいです。スタッフも手際よく対応してくれました。無料の朝食はパックで個別になっていて、客室に持ち替えっていただくこともできるなど、コロナ対応もよく考えられていました。
