My wife and I stayed for my birthday. The hotel's location and vibe were excellent, and the staff was friendly. However, I'm giving a 1-star review due to billing issues and miscommunication with the front desk. We will not be returning. Upon check-in, we expressed interest in the cooking class experience. The front desk enthusiastically offered to "fully comp" the experience for my birthday, which influenced our decision to book it. Without this promise, we would have opted for dinner instead. One hour before the class, I checked with the front desk to confirm everything. The staff member who booked us said she couldn't fully comp it but suggested using our Amex $150 experience credit. After consulting with the manager, they assured us it would be possible. We thanked them and enjoyed the class. The next morning, at checkout, I asked a new front desk to confirm the credit application. She confirmed it was all set. Weeks later, I discovered the credit was never applied. I called the front desk, and they promised to get back to me after discussing it with a manager. I never heard back. Another week went by and I disputed $150 of the charge with my credit card company, explaining the situation. We lost the dispute and never heard from the hotel again. While we loved the class, we are very disappointed with how this situation was handled. As newlyweds on a tight budget, we would have opted for dinner had we known the credit wouldn't be applied. This experience has left a bad impression, and we will not be returning.
