Planters Inn on Reynolds Square

The entire hotel had an odor sort of like incense - not a good odor. The bathroom had mildew on the shower ceiling and there was no ventilation. The bed creaked and was very uncomfortable - sloped toward the middle of the bed. Pillows were lumpy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was expensive at $35/night but less than nearby hotels.

I was in Savannah for depositions. If I am being honest, Planters Inn was not my first choice as I usually stay within the Hilton family. But those hotels were all booked. I was a little apprehensive having seen a few bad reviews, but chose Planters Inn because it was the closest to where I needed to be. to be. In hindsight, I am glad the Hilton properties were booked. The hotel has much more character than the other guys. Yes, the property shows its age, but it is well maintained. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I am used to at much higher priced hotels. The staff, however, is what makes the Planters Inn a real gem. They were friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond with a few late-night tasks I needed to complete in preparation for my work the following day. I plan to return to Savannah with my wife in the near future as tourists (I had no real time for sightseeing on his trip), and when I do I will be staying at the Planters Inn.

Planters Inn is a sweet spot to stay. It’s close by every thing.

Beautiful well decorated place. Lovely to have water and coffee available. Very nice to have wine and cheese platters HOWEVER, we arrived at 6:35, checked in 6:38 and we were unable to get the wine or cheese. It was literally being packed away as we were checking in. It was so disappointing that they could not salvage a couple of glasses for us. Nice to be able to walk to the river and purchase our drinks.

Planters Inn, is a beautiful old historic hotel on one of the famous squares in Historic Savannah.

This hotel is very conveniently located and has a nice, friendly staff. Having said that, I could not help but notice that everything from the elevators to the room was badly in need of maintenance. There was chipped paint,scratches and dings as well as dust on almost everything. Bathroom was very small and my view was of a parking garage. The evening wine and cheese offering was minimal , although the piano player was a nice touch. Overall, I don't think I would choose to stay here again.

Great little hotel conveniently located on Wesley Square within easy access of lots of Savannah's attractions. Old world / Southern charm ambiance with a great happy hour where hotel guests make new lasting friendships. Staff was friendly and helpful

Let me start with the positives. The front desk, valet and other hotel staff were super friendly and informative. The valet was careful with our car, which was parked across the street in a secure facility. The hotel is just a few steps from the downtown historic district, near restaurants, jazz clubs, SCAD facilities. The price was quite good for Savannah. Now, the downsides. The hotel smelled dusty, musty and mildewy. The paint was chipped in several places, so much so that I was concerned about lead exposure. That much being said, you don't go to Svannah to sit in your hotel room. If you are willing to tolerate some dust in order to get a reasonably priced hotel near downtown, this is a good option.
